also, it seems both of the bundles i ordered will be coming with a physical copy of the uncharted collection
but i think i would actually have preferred a digital download
i already own the original ps3 releases of all three games physically, which makes also having a physical copy of the ps4 rerelease kind of unnecessary and redundant for me
plus i won't save even a kilobyte of hdd space whatsoever by opting for physical over digital this gen since all games install entirely to the hdd anyway
and uncharted of all games is one i'd love to be able to boot up from the console at any time rather than having to fish for a disc when needed
maybe i'll see if i can trade my physical copy for a digital code lol

THYME FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Pros:
The controller. It may already be my favorite of all time. I've never felt like I had a solid grip on a controller as much as with this one. The sticks are precise, the shoulder buttons are near perfect (maybe a bit TOO sensitive? I press them by mistake sometimes), at first I thought the face buttons may be a bit too small but no, if anything they're a bit more accessible.
The way you can use the PS button while playing a game and check your messages or change your settings and stuff. The PS3 had something similar with the semi-transparent black overlay but it felt much more sluggish and less seamless than with the PS4. This just feels natural, and there's less "uh no you need to turn off your game to continue".
The share button is p. nice. The options for instant online sharing are lackluster like Tec pointed out, but you can always put them on a USB stick or something, tho I'd agree you shouldn't have to do that in 2015. But I like that it exists, and I like that it continuously records your last few minutes of gameplay and you can watch it and get a screen capture from the video and send the picture to a friend and all this while the game is still running.
Sleep mode is p. nice too. I can recharge my controller with low energy consumption and if I had a game running I can go back anytime.
Cons:
That clusterfuck of a menu. I prefered the XMB. akudood;
They put a whole lot of stuff I don't ever intend to use on the front and I would have like to be able to remove them.
Folders would have been nice too. Like a "stuff I don't ever intend to use" folder, like in iOS.
Tacky gimmicks on the controller. Like I said, it feels really nice, but the touchpad and that light on the front are unnecessary additions imo.
I hate knowing that I'll have to buy PS+ if I want to see the ghosts and the messages and be able to summon players in From Software games. Otherwise, you guys know me, I'm not much of an online multiplayer guy, but ugh.
Uhh can't think of much else as far as cons go. I'm liking it so far.

I never liked XMB. The kind of categories they offer aren't distinct enough and every device I've seen use it seems to give you a giant vertical list in one category (like "Game" in PS3 and "Video" in Sony Blu-Ray players)
Separate categories for "TV/Video Services", "Video", and "Music" seems excessive with some ambiguity. Where do PS Store movies go? Not in "TV/Video Services".
Does "Remote Play" belong in the "PlayStation Network" or "Network" category?
Are Trophies in "Game" or "PlayStation Network"?
Do storage management and game saves go in "Settings" or "Game"?
Is PSN account settings in "Settings" or "PlayStation Network"?
Is "Chat Settings" in "Friends", "PlayStation Network" or "Settings"?
Is "Power" in "Settings" or "Users"?
I like a grid of games much better than a vertical list that fills like 5 screens on my system.
That said, I think both PS4 and PS3 have a much better interface than Vita's disorganized bubbles. Even
Nintendo (who always sucks at OS design) managed to make a nicer gaming-handheld system UI on 3DS than Sony did with Vita.

Try using PS4's web browser? It'll probably let you visit image uploading sites and browse for pictures from your screenshots storage.
I know the Vita, Wii U, and 3DS all support image uploads through the web browser.
that puts several additional steps in between capturing an image and actually having free access to it, and struggling with the ps4's awful browser would probably take even longer than dealing with a usb drive does smithicide;
whereas uploading to twitterbook is (presumably) quick and seamless if that's what the player wants thanks to native support for those platforms

I also tried on PS3, which does support image uploads.
PS4 is the only internet-connected console I use that has an image gallery but can't upload images doodhuh;
Every other Sony and Nintendo system can.

imgur has a very clunky web UI to use on anything but desktops, which simply doesn't work on a lot of devices' web browsers. Sadly, you can't even force it to use web interface on anything that doesn't have a recognized mobile useragent.
While 3DS, PS3, and Vita support uploading images in general, imgur's site doesn't work. Many other hosts, like cubeupload, do work with them.
I think Wii U works with imgur, although instead of picking from a gallery, you can only upload the current image off either the TV or GamePad, just like Miiverse.

ok, this may seem a bit daunting since it's still facebook and that's not really what it's meant for, but here's something i just tried and it works p. well: upload your pic to facebook and set the privacy setting to "only me" right from the upload screen
then you just have to grab it from your facebook account and do w/e
you can even set "only me" as the default when you're linking your facebook account to your psn account (and afterwards in the settings) so you don't have to do it every time and mistakenly have it show up on your wall

I mean if we're talking 4k versions of pong, sure, close to current specs might be fine, but then what's even the point? that's even worse than the new 3ds levels of buffoonery. yes i get that consoles have way different optimizations and spec requirements for running games than pc, but they would need some literal magic to get modern 3d games running at 4k on a ps4 at the price point it is now, and i doubt sony's going to fuck around with it to just get rouge legacy and hotline miami running at 4k on their system
for example i have an i5 with a 660 ti, which is admittedly shitty for a gaming rig, but my parents recently got a 4k tv so i decided to fuck around with it over Christmas break. i pushed one of my faves, dota 2, a decently optimized game, runs at 120 FPS on ultra at the usual 1080P resolution, into 4k. I had to bump it down to medium and it struggled to stay at 30 fps, and i quickly decided to stop fuckin around with it cuz my pc sounded really sad.

it used to be locked at 30, so i probably just read some old shit, but as of the 2.5 ps4 update it can be bumped up to 60 in the vita remote play settings, assuming the game actually runs at 60 on the ps4

do u hav direct connect turned on and off? See if that makes a difference with the vita
direct connection is when the ps4 creates a wifi hotspot that the vita sees

OK I DID A FUCKLOAD OF TESTING TONIGHT, not sure if i'm right about any of this, mostly just theories
my direct wired-to-my-modem connection gave me averages of about 110 mbps up, 12 down, so not too shabby; about what i'm actually paying for
then it dawned on me i never really tested my 5.0ghz connection. unfortunately the ONLY device i have that is 5.0 compatable is my iphone, so it's almost fucking useless. turns out, got a speedy ass 100 mbps average from my room, which is the furthest distance in my apartment away from my router/modem. so now i'm considering getting a 5.0ghz adapter lol cuz i still don't have one on my pc
but alas 5.0 ghz aint an option for my ps4 or vita
so i tested my ethernet over power, lost a shitload, 15mbps down, about 9 up. usable, i guess, but could be better, especially compared to the latter two. i need to fuck around with the outlets they're in still though, might find a sweetspot i dunno lol.
then there's the ole' 2.4ghz. fucking 2.4ghz. i tested on A LOT of devices, and i tested like EVERY fucking setting i was able to change man, i swear. channels, the mode, the fragmentation length, firewalls, i tried it. the best i consistently got on a device was around 4 mbps. so i decided to scan the channels in my building and HOLY FUCK dude i shit you not i found 50 devices from my PC. fucking 50. all channels gobbled up. i'm pretty sure wifi interference is my issue, there's just too many fucking people in this building, each with their own wifi device and 10 others gobbling up the signals. or just my router is garbage, either is possible lol
so i might just run a 100 foot ethernet into my room over the ceiling, fuck it lol. if i had 100 or like 75mbps in my room, this shit would probably work fine
and yeah thats the problem, my ps4 was trying to do shit over that fuck awful 2.4ghz connection. i deleted my wifi from my ps4 so it was offline, connected to my ps4 directly, and it worked beautifully. played some diablo without any chuggin' at all. set it to 60 fps too man happydood;

My only stance on pc vs console, is that I just wanna know my hardware can play the games that release on it. That and of course, the game selections. It's why I go console, and until recently I never had to worry about spending extra money to upgrade my hardware.

BUT, i still want my consoles for my crappy japanese games. :)

the all-matte design didn't even stand out to me as novel because my current ps4 is already all matte lol

It's huge (and ugly), consumes a lot of power (twice as much as slim), and probably will have thermal/noise issues. Out of all the PS4 games I have or intend to get, there might be none or very few that actually see any difference at all on the new hardware. It doesn't even support UHD Blu-Ray discs.
Are there even any guarantees of perfect compatibility with all existing PS4 games?

back in the days i would have needed 3 with my 2-ports PS3:
one for the controller
one for the rock band adapters
one for a usb stick
but now with spotify and the lack of video media transfer there's not much need for a usb stick
and harmonix is like a small activision now so fuck them tbh

Having a USB port on the back can be useful if you have any USB accessories you want to keep connected, like the PSVR box, without USB cables sticking out the front. I'd be surprised if PSVR is not the entire reason they added that port.
Wii U actually has 4 USB ports, but that's still occasionally not enough for me, mostly because all of those ports have low enough power output that every accessory needs two of them. An external hard drive and two Smash Bros adapters (for playing with 5-8 people) by itself requires 6 USB ports. You can still use them all at the same time, but only if you connect the power-only half of the Y-cables to another device with spare USB ports.
I've used a PS4's USB spare ports to make up for the Wii U not having enough hocuspocus;

it's far superior to the original ps4's design imo, three layers looks much more balanced than two and i greatly prefer its rounded finish to the original's aggressively angular one
the placement of the disc drive and frontal usb ports is so much more logical on this model, and i love how the light strip and power/eject buttons now share the same unbroken strip of plastic right on the face of the system
and the relative uniformity of the chassis is æsthæticælly pleasing compared to the original's bipolar housing

there's no argument about the ps3 being unweildy and cumbersome but it's not designed to be moved, ever
it's designed to sit proudly as a trophy at the center of your entertainment system and admired by all

Oh yeah, so I bought a PS4 Pro at launch. I'm probably the only person here who has or even plans to get it, right?
I just needed to get a PS4 around now and decided (hesitantly) that it's probably better to get Pro than the Slim/Original. I'm still not sure about that decision. I admittedly like the Slim better in a lot of ways.
That said, not one of the 20+ PS4 games I own has any PS4 Pro enhancements. Gravity Rush 2 will probably be the first.
i'll probably get one eventually, but i don't really see a point right now as my tv doesn't have hdr or 4k and they didn't patch bloodborne which is all i play on ps4 lol
once it hits 300 ill probably say fuck it and grab one
The TV I bought last year is 4K but not HDR. With games, however, I don't have the easiest time distinguishing between 720 and 1080 let alone 1080 to 4K. HDR would be more noticeable, but that's not even exclusive to PS4 Pro.
Last I checked, Netflix seems to only provide 60fps for 4K, which I actually appreciate more than anything else that comes from having a 4K TV.
judging by the last guardian's performance on the both the ps4 and ps4 pro, you're going to need one for even 1080p gameplay anyway
yeah i was thinking about this recently with how recent releases are starting to perform on normie ps4s: last guardian is supposed to by quite janky, and i've had quite a few moments of jank in my final fantasy so far. i'm really hoping ps4 pro doesn't push sub 30 fps to be acceptable on the normal hardware, but i have a feeling within the next two years they might phase it out entirely because devs dont want to even deal with it i dunno
