you know when the 2 big titles are wii music and a 3rd party snowboard game
Yeah... This was the kind of thing I was worried about might happen with Nintendo's Wii. Knew it would turn out too casual
They're not even trying to balance between casual games and real games anymore. :'(
I guess Mario Kart Wii will be the last Wii game I'll purchase for a while.

After the economic failure of the GameCube thanks to other consoles like the PS2 and Xbox, Nintendo had to find new untapped territory to make money out of. The main goal of a company is to make money, and likewise at the end of the day--Nintendo is the better company, the envy of Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo is competing with huge companies that not only do gaming, but other shit, and to beat them with sales is amazing.
Nintendo may be reaching out to casual gamers, but that doesn't make their games any less fun. I look forward to Wii Sports and Wii Music.

10 announced games at Nintendo's E3. Three of which I actually care about: Animal Crossing, Wii Music, and Wii Sports Resort. Not too bad, but I wanted Pikmin 3 as well.

That's usually what people expect when they devote themselves to a companies products. I'm sure Apple users would be pissed if Apple started producing laptops with Vista on them instead of their OS.
Also Wii Music looks like shit. In case you weren't listening you don't
play anything. You choose a song and an instrument and pretend to play the song by flailing about like a retard. The game does the rest for you.

you guys don't get it
Nintendo doesn't differentiate between "casual games" and "real games," all they have is "games that make money" and "games that don't make money."
The people in charge os PS3 and XBox360, and everyone else in the market all agree that the Wii is not a competitor because it doesn't offer the same thing... it's just an "expensive niche" in the gaming market.
Because of this, there's no reason for Nintendo to push big-name "real" games. Additionally, the majority of Wii buyers are people who are interested in the "casual" games, and they will be catered to.
This is what has pissed me off the most: That the gaming idustry has just become about greed! What happened to games with an actual plot? Remember when developers were crying because their games were not being considered an art form? That sure as hell is not going to happen now with games like Wii Fit taking over the entire company. Games that are not games, ARE NOT GAMES. I wouldn't mind if for like every 3 casual games ONE hardcore game was released, but it is like every 10 casual, ONE hardcore! And that hardcore game is created by a third party company because the creators of the system, DO NOT GIVE A FUCK.
So now it is up to Sony. The entire fate of the gaming industry, if Sony unveils some new casual bullshit, the industry is as dead as it was long ago with the coleco vision and Atari. IF it reveals games , original games, that have actually story lines and characters and engaging gameplay, the industry might survive.
buy more older games if you want "real" games and quit whining so damn much doodthing;

I'm just saying pretty much what Banjo said and that, in my opinion, the PS2 pretty much dominated that generation.
I have a GCN and I have around 15 games for it and I don't like every one of them. A good amount of them are fun, and some of them are fun because they're traditional for Nintendo.

I'll still admit the N64 is a terrible console, almost as bad as the PS1.

I'd say the Super Nintendo had as much if not more RPGs than the PS1 did.
Fighting, sport, and racing games are the bane of this earth.
2D games are always better on the Saturn, so the best version of Megaman 8 was of course on the Saturn and SotN was also on the Saturn and I believe the only problem with that version was fog looked a little funny.
I utterly despise mech games and and especially 3D flying (I'm honestly amazed I like Panzer Dragoon, but the controls are flawless and the whole setting feels good).
i've tried many times to like resident evil and even begged for 4 a few christmases ago and got it, but i just can't like any of them at all
and of course you had to put an rpg there, and the saturn got quite a few of those but i've never been fond of most rpgs
I guess that leaves you with Crash, maybe, but the only good games on the N64 (Banjo Kazooie series) beat all other platformers of the era in all aspects.

Mega Man 8 is terrible on the Saturn. The music is trash, the graphics feel like they belong on a 10.5 bit console, and it's lacking most everything on the PS1 anniversary edition.
That brings another point... every single game released on both consoles (very few since the Saturn was a complete failure) was released in its definitive form on the Playstation.
Have you ever played Alundra? It's not an RPG. If anything it's a Zelda/Terranigma clone.
You can't honestly say that the controls in Dragoon Zwei were good (hell it was like time crisis with dragons). It doesn't help that the art style and graphics are an utter atrocity.
SOTN is on Saturn... you can play it if you can read Japanese/want to look at the hilarious graphical hit it takes.

I stopped reading there because I lol'd too much.
The PS1 edition is lacking everything the Saturn version has, and everyone knows the Saturn performed much better with any and all 2D games. 3D often looked like slop on the Saturn (not much better on the PS1 either), but 2D games were always best played on the Saturn.
Also, if you played Saturn games on an emulator, that shit doesn't count; the Saturn hasn't ever even been properly emulated yet.

Then play both side by side, it's incredibly easy to see the graphical improvement on the PS1. The sprites for one are about 209% larger and more detailed-- but that's gay! Sega does everything better.

wait, how am i supposed to see greater graphical quality
1: They're two ENTIRELY different levels
2: They're youtube videos. Made by entirely different people. They each use different tools to record and have different compression rates. That's not how you do graphics comparison.
3: It's a fact the Saturn was much better with any and all 2D games. Play any shmup on the Saturn and its port on the PS1. More than likely, you'll have lower graphical quality and an abundance of slowdown on the PS1 version, and the Saturn version will be arcade perfect.
4: even the wikipedia article says the saturn version is superior in every way besides video cutscenes how retarded are you psyduck;

every 2d game that was released on both the saturn and ps1 are like this--better graphics and music on the saturn, and any possible slowdown in the ps1 version is eliminated in the saturn version

I just presented plenty of sources that prove the Sega Saturn version is superior, and the reason you can't present a "proper comparison" is because you know there is no way the PS1 version is superior--because it's not.
Your argument went from "oh well the ps1 version is more complete," to "oh well who needs that bonus content the saturn version has," to "oh uh YOU'RE A FANBOY."
I've linked to many sites that state, for a fact, the Saturn version of Megaman 8 is far superior (aside from the lower video quality), and 2D quality is overall much greater on the Saturn. I'm not demanding you like the Saturn, it's just that you should just accept the fact the Saturn performed much better when it comes to 2D than any other console.
but you keep pulling these "bigger, better sprites on the ps1" excuses out of your ass when the whole internet has evidence proving the opposite.

I think they're pretty comparable. The Saturn version just has smaller and less detailed sprites because of how underdeveloped its GPU was.
Gimme a day and I'll have screenshots of both versions from emulators. You'll complain about Saturn not being emulated properly, but it'll be fine for a screenshot. It's not like it's going to shrink the fucking sprites.

Sprites are no different.
And the second CPU overcomes a weak GPU and thus lets it perform excellently on 2D games, but 3D games take a major hit which is why any multiplatform 3D game looks awful on the Saturn.
Although Thunder Force V actually looks better on the Saturn, and is probably the only 3D game that doesn't look better on the PS1.

QuoteUnfortunately, due to poor coding, there are more and longer load times.[16] Since the Saturn has limited hardware transparency support, transparency effects, such as the mists and the waterfall, were replaced with dithering effects. The overall quality is said to be lower than the PlayStation version due to it being a simple port handled by another team,
