yeah i guess the lack of enemies was really disappointing in retrospect

but still twilight princess didn't have shit to do at all. if you were ever like "oh man im going to go explore" i think there was an average of .8 caves per hyrule field section

Another thing Skyward Sword is largely missing out on are the towns and sidequest rewards. Skyloft is absolutely the only town in the game, while all other 3D Zeldas have at least like 3 towns. Within Skyloft, most sidequests reward only gratitude crystals which lead mostly to rupee wallet enlargements (and by the time you get them, you probably won't have much more use for rupees). I don't remember any sidequests directly leading to a piece of heart, a bottle, or any other type of useful item.

yet their drop rate seems to be more than double that of the regular ornamental skulls

I think instead of removing them, they tried to fix them. I honestly barely remember TP so I can't really comment any further than that, but I think it's a possibility.
