even the dreamcast, the biggest embarrassment in console history, never once sold as slowly as the wii u does (not while it was in production,at least)

in fact, the dreamcast's total sales still to this day beat the wii u by half a million units, despite the fact that the wii u's been on the market for a full year longer than the dreamcast ever was

kimishima is completely correct: it's nothing but trash
agreed

how anyone can honestly defend the wii u is beyond me

still kinda want one cry;
Even if it's been a failure in terms of marketing, sales, and third-party support, I'd still say it has a good number of quality first party games. And games that you want but can't get on the hardware you already have should be the biggest reason to buy a console.

fun fact:

even by iwata's own metric, the wii u is a complete failure

Quote from: iwataWii will be a failure if it cannot sell far more than GameCube did. In fact, we shouldn't continue this business if our only target is to outsell GameCube.

To be honest Nintendo is still in a great spot, their fans are quite ravenous and their games are comparatively cheap to make compared to other gaming companies plus the game support is nearly all 1st party which I think is a benefit more than it is a downside. They have a huge potential fan base, a huge collection of IP, and nearly unlimited resources. They even have a lot of great feedback from the gaming community and of course some not so great feedback.

The Wii U has a handful of great games, but so did the Dreamcast and the Gamecube. I think the poor sales of the Wii U are from two major problems. First the poor name and even poorer marketing campaign and secondly the nearly unsupported Gamepad made the console more expensive and gimmicky.

I wish Nintendo luck (but of course leave luck to heaven) and I'll always be there to play Nintendo games as long as I can experience them with my friends and family.
