he makes some valid points about how nintendo poorly defined [and continues to do so] the wii u when it announced it.  but i hardly consider the apple tv to be the new wii, obviously it'll have wider appeal like the wii did among "causal" gamers, but where as the wii was a dedicated game console that just happened to have a quirky way of interacting with its games, this is a netflix/hulu box that lets you play your iphone/ipad games.  of course i could be wrong, but i think the biggest thing lacking from the apple tv is local multiplayer which is what really made the wii a success.

thoughts?

new super mario bros. will save the wii u
wind waker hd will save the wii u
donkey kong country will save the wii u
mario kart will save the wii u
bayonetta will save the wii u
smash bros. will save the wii u
amiibo will save the wii u
kirby will save the wii u

next up: yoshi's woolly whyevenbother

http://www.metacritic.com/game/wii-u/yoshis-woolly-world

yoshi's wooled boxers will save the wii u

also, forgot one: spl@oon will save the wii u

next up: star fox [glow=black,2,300]LOL[/glow]

i'm not sure i can continue to be as cynical about spl@oon's performance as i once was

within a few months it managed to sell nearly 2 million units on a console with an install base of just 10 million

mario kart 8 is actually even more impressive, having sold over 5 million units, one for every two wii u owners

but still, splatoon and mk8 didn't save the wii u so much as they miraculously saved themselves despite the wii u, lol

and for that they will remain struck out

anyway,

xenoblade will save the wii u
mario maker will save the wii u

and with star fox's delay, it's still next up, along with twilight princess

damn.... i thought wooly world did better than that

i mean that nintendo direct confirmed the wii u is fucking dead, they aren't putting resources into devolving new software for the thing, just tying up what they've already had in development

SEE YA ON THE NX BOYS

Hiro

seriously the nintendo direct along with animal crossing amiibo party have made me very sad about being a nintendo fan

looks like everyone's seeing right through nintendo's deceitful tactics and this lazy filler content is getting exactly the reception it deserves

such a far cry from these days, in so short a time:

Updating that chart would include these changes:
Add to Wii U: Mario Maker
Add to 3DS: Monster Hunter 4U, Majora's Mask 3D, Xenoblade 3D
Add to other: Witcher 3, Bloodborne

That comparison still adds up to 23 Nintendo vs 10 everyone else.

tbh I'm surprised Mario Maker and the 3DS remakes scored so well. I wouldn't honestly rate them that high.

Correction: I somehow missed Ori and the Blind Forest, so that's one more in the "all other consoles" list.

But "all other consoles" still has exactly 8: (3 of the ones that made the list last year have dropped off it)
93/9.2 Vita - Persona 4 Golden
88/8.6 Vita - LittleBigPlanet Vita
87/8.9 Vita - Tearaway
86/8.5 Vita - FFX/X-2 HD Remaster (PS4 version has a lower score)
95/8.9 PS4 - Last of Us Remastered
92/8.6 PS4 - Bloodborne
92/8.8 PS4 - Witcher 3 (also on Xbone: 91/8.6)
88/8.6 Xbone - Ori and the Blind Forest

Nintendo's list also lost 3 games:
86/8.4 3DS - Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon
83/8.3 3DS - Persona Q
85/8.4 3DS - Bravely Default

So the final comparison is now 20 vs 8.

likewise, but muh nostalgia i guess

it's too bad nintendo's done absolutely everything in its power to repel third parties from the wii u, otherwise it'd be unquestionably the best console this generation

Man. nintendo wishes they had a game lime ori.

oh wait... they do.

and they fucked it up by making a multiplayer shooter out of it
