Title: Games you regret buying
Post by: bluaki on January 19, 2008, 11:14:58 PM
Mine:
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
Pokemon Ranger
Mario Kart 64 (Virtual Console)
Pokemon Dash
Pac-Pix
Spiderman 2 DS (I only got it because, near launch, the only stores with DS's in stock required me to buy a bundle with two games and only one game I wanted was Super Mario 64 DS)
Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis
Hey You Pikachu
Tarzan: Untamed (although it was part of a bundle including Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, Melee, and a Gamecube carrying case. I don't know how much it costed for bundle because 'Santa' got it for me in '01)

Yeah.

There are some games that I actually don't regret buying, but there are a lot of games that I played through once and haven't touched since. Even worse there are some games that I played partially through and haven't touched since(Far Cry, Prince of Persia)

Seriously. It doesn't listen to you at all half the time. He uses Thunderbolt at random a lot, sometimes destroying what you're supposed to collect. And christ, he sucks so bad at fishing.

The only thing I liked about the game was all the collecting, but that didn't last very long at all.

KH1 and 2 and that GBA game. I bought them about the same time and KH1 was pretty crappy. The gameplay was just boring to me. I spent like $30 on all three games so I don't care that much.

Taiko Drum Master. I regret it sorta, the game is just pretty lame really. Looked awesome though.

Star Fox Assault, I paid $40 for it. Thats about the time I stopped buying new games unless I know 100% that it will kick ass or it's a DS game thats decent. DS games barley ever drop price.

You actually listen to reviews?

And I know it's your opinion. psyduck;

I'm just saying that there are so many obvious flaws with the game that anyone who's not a fanboy should be able to see clearly. I don't see how it can be considered "one of the best games ever," unless your basis is of best games is on whether or not its a Zelda game.

I can't say I'm a fan of the shitty bosses, boring soundtrack (seriously, Hyrule Field was like the only good song in the game) and weird lighting. I don't consider blinding brown light realistic. I consider it stupid.

Yes.  People who review this games know a lot more than you do and me.  So why not?

So im just not going to play a game because it has weird lighting which i didnt even notice and a bad soundtrack?

Just because they can type a few paragraphs for a few dollars doesn't make them a better gamer than me. I've been playing for over 15 years and have hundreds of games, so I have a fair idea of what's good and what's not. [Most] Recent Zelda and Mario games are absolute slop; anyone that's been gaming for over 10 years agrees, yet reviewers still give every game in either series perfect or nigh scores.

Music in the game was fine, graphics were horrible, the twilight realm burned my eyes and almost gave me motion sickness, the wolf sessions and particularly the bug killing was utterly idiotic, a couple bosses were neat but the dungeons overall were horrible, and the game just wasn't fun at all. It made nice use of motion controls to some degree, but that wasn't enough to save it.

About the reviewer im pretty sure they have A LOT more experience than you do.   Whether they are a better gamer than you, i dont really know.  Then again you are not the one being payed on a site to make reviews on games and neither do you make reviews just for the fun of it.  So why should i listen to you?

I doubt it since i've seen games getting advertised incredibly but the reviews suck.  One example is Soul Calibur Legends.

Which is not really unique in any particular way.

Link transformed into a rabbit in the dark world in aLttP and you were also able to travel between those alternate "dimensions" of the world in that way except you could keep going back and didn't have to watch as the dark part of the world vanished away and overall the game had a much better "dark/light" system.

also why did the developers make every character in TP hideous except for Link and Midna

oh right

I forgot Zelda was even in the game considering her role in it is pretty much nil, which is another thing that bugged the hell out of me. At least in the earliest Zelda games, you didn't see her because she was captured. In TP, she just sits in that damn tower and then heals Midna and then gets possessed and attacks you and then just kinda stands around during the end.

She was such a boring character in TP. :'(

I'm actually making a couple more reviews right now and working on reviewing everything I own but we have no CMS and I don't want to bother adding anything more to what I've already slapped up because we'll end up just changing everything eventually. psyduck;

They're just random gamers that get paid. I'm a kid that spends whatever money he can find on games, so I'm going to be brutally honest if I wasted my money. Paid reviewers have no worries if the game is bad, because they didn't pay out of their own pockets.

i use review sites as guidelines to see if i might have an interest in it, but look towards the reviews of the general populace to determine whether i should buy it. if a guy living in his mother's basement spent $60 on a game and hates it, he probably knows more than anyone else because he's presumably been gaming for decades and he just blew whatever funds he had on a heap of shit. the paid reviewer takes no loss either way.

Baten Kaitos. ugly;

It took me about 20 hours of gameplay to notice that I found the game really boring, too. I wanted to give it a chance at first, but I just couldn't take it anymore at a certain point.

Other that that, none really. I usually read reviews and such or buy games I've already rented before. Looks like I shouldn't have trusted the reviews for BK.

Why should you only listen to people that agree with you?

it seems most reviewers review today for the sole reason of satisfying others. new zelda game? better give it a ten or else the kids will whine.

Lawlz said TP sucks, why should i listen to him?
Because I paid for it with my own money.

The paid reviewers just got it at their office, mailed to them fresh from Nintendo.

Because they have the same tastes as me, maybe? Just a thought.

They didnt give it a ten.  Just because you payed for it is not good enough reason to listen to you. I payed for it and i liked it.

Ok, so the reviews are done before anyone can buy it...

Bleach DS, Blade of Fate

It was fun when I had to unlock everything, but it got deathly boring afterward.  Wi-Fi is fucking laggy on it as well.

Seriously? I've unlocked everything and almost bought out the shop for my 2nd time (new stuff comes in) and I still play it whenever i need to take a shit instead of my other DS games.  I only have wifi troubles when playing ranked. Unranked works great. Christ, i love this game.

New Super Mario Bros.
Mario Pinball Land (...)
Mario Party Advance
Unlimited SaGa (I bought it because it was made by Square-Enix and liked what I saw on the cover. Scarred for life now that I've played it.)

I can't think of others right now. When I do I'll edit this post.

Basically every 3D Sonic game I ever bought. Christ, they were all so fucking bad. madood;

Add to that Star Fox Command, Elebits and some other shit that I can't remember at the moment.

Oh yeah, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.

I got $84 in a garage sale while my cousin was with me for the week, and he told me that it was "such an awesome game". I seriously wanted to punch him in the face and get my money back.

Red Steel. I paid $50 for it. I wouldn't have regretted it if it were like $10 but it was too shitty for full price. I did beat it and enjoyed it a little but not worth anything above $10.

There's more, but that's all I can think of.
