spyro is mediocre but i still loved it

ratchet and clank sort of rode the line between being crappy and being great, so i dont really count it. jak and daxter was hot garbage though.

yeah this game is actually really mediocre. beyond the first few aha moments its really generic and there's no incentive to do anything.

its fun in a dumb way though, like all those old bargain bin games. quest 64, those gamecube bombermans, like most action games on the ps2, etc.

Even if you don't like this game that much, its production values and general development effort are a billion times more ambitious than those of those games you just mentioned. It's ludicrous to compare them.

botw is another generic blockbuster. yeah quest and bomberman arent blockbusters, but i couldve mentioned jak and daxter and other mediocre popular games but then people would get even more triggered. spyro etc though i love spyro.

botw feels like the b-list games of yesteryear. i still had fun with it, but it is far from being a great game.

tbh if  you love spyro you have no excuse to call jak and daxter mediocre lol

i'd accept you calling both of them mediocre tho

maybe you should finish Jak and Daxter dingus.

It's at the very least, better than spyro.

Skyward Sword is a mid-tier Zelda game that I quite like, it fixed a lot of things that were going wrong with the franchise and really it's only issues were Fi and the lack of exploration (sky was just blaand) but the level design, weapons system, and combat were all great imo

But yeah I think BotW is EXCELLENT but my gripes with it are the minimal story, dungeons that have no atmosphere and just feel like another place (despite the beasts being well-thought out) and the fact that at a certain point, yeah you're basically just doing the same stuff. My hope for a next Zelda game is we get the same basic concept, but with a lot more story, a decent number of dungeons, and bring back the magic meter & special items to replace the Sheikah Slate. So basically if this is a re-imagination of the original Zelda, I want them to re-imagine Zelda II & ALttP next.
