I don't really get Kill la Kill's appeal

it reminds me of Medaka Box in many ways, which to me is far from a compliment

it's all in the visual design. we don't get shows that look like this very often.

and the fact that it's fun and doesn't take itself seriously and it's just so over-the-top in a good way

things like this are all also part of what made gurren lagann so great, the show that it resembles most. some shots remind me a lot of panty and stocking, too.

i just got told by someone that kill la kill is gross because it incorporates "self-harm as a prop to shock people" because ryuuko uses that device to effectively slash her wrist or whatever to use blood to fuel the godrobe and also it has "casual rape jokes" (probably referring to the godrobe forcing ryuuko to wear it in ep 1)

i can't tell if they're serious or just mocking the bullshit on tumblr revolving around this show

sometimes i wish tumblr didn't watch anime ever

(plus they're not a sub group, it's more correct to say "crunchyroll is better")

underwater by far and large has way better typesetting and i like their scripts better as well. video quality also seems a tiny bit better.

bear in mind i have watched both. i haven't watched commie's though, but commie's a joke so i'm not going to bother.

i have no idea who they are

but really, between horriblesubs and commie and underwater, i like underwater the most. stylish typesetting (especially with regard to character introductions), slightly better scripts overall (there are a few places where hs did a bit better though, mostly just in a couple scenes of ep 1 tho, although underwater came back and did better w/fight scene w/boxing dude and a lot better in ep 2), and slightly higher video quality

hs is of course a lot faster though, so if you can't wait, nothing wrong with using them

i mean hs is doing fine but a show like this just begs for underwater's special treatment:
