My netbook comes with a 60 day trial of Microsoft Office 2007 and I really dislike the newer version of Word, which is primarilly what i will be using, so I am thinking of uninstalling all of that right off the bat and just using Open Office.

So, I've never used Open Office before, and I'm just wondering how it stacks up against Microsoft Office. Also my netbook came with Microsoft Works or something preinstalled which looks like a shitty version of Microsoft Office. Should I uninstall that and go with Open Office.

Thx

Hiro

It works for some people, but I don't like it at all.  akudood;

Don't uninstall the other one but try OpenOffice and see if you like it

Yeah I messed around with it and it seems satisfactory for my needs. The microsoft office programs are trials anyway and i'm sure that when they expire I will lose major features.

Now how do i make it so Writer in Open Office is the default program for opening .doc files? I tried to check the box when i clicked "always open with selected application" i got an error message, even though it works when i open files with it wtf.
Stupid windows.

Edit:
I literally got it to work the minute after I posted this. lol.
