metroid prime is the only one I've played from the prime series, besides hunters. prime was fun when I only had a gamecube, I used to do 100% speed runs of it, but now it's really boring... and the controls feel really weird now.. I tried playing it a few months ago, and it sucked. I got to tallon, and stopped playing last time I played...

overall I don't think I can really pick a favorite boss out of the games, though

I loved the way the Final Boss fight in Prime 1 flowed. It was kind of hard, but if you were crafty enough you could get powerups and stay alive while reading its movements. Prime 2 fight was kind of the same way, except the Dark Samus fight was just impossible for a while. The Emperor was fun.

Prime 3 boss was a buzzkill, way to easy and in no way significant despite its vague resemblance to Mama Brain.

if you actually played the others and didn't milk the original so much of all its worth, you might not find replaying it so boring

honestly get MP2 and 3 because even if they're not necessarily as good, they're still fucking great

Prime's final boss only annoyed me in one way...the Flamethrower is fucking useless against it. There's really no point to that weapon. Wavebuster and Ice Spreader? Hell yeah! But Flamethrower? No.

That reminds me...the two upgrades in Echoes were kind of useless. There were a few spots where it was good to use it and clear a large area, but mostly you had to conserve ammo. I never found a particular strategy for the darkburst...maybe it was the light beam's one that I used, because it had more power...argh, I don't remember.

Yeah I never used those either. I just used charge shots for the light beam most of the time once I had it, and occasionally switched to Annihilator.

I remember conserving ammo for dark samus, and then taking her out very quickly. I'm glad that whole arc is over, Nintendo overabuses protaganist-clones.

One thing Corruption did better: Dark Samus' music.

One of my favorite battle themes, other than Meta Ridley, is the theme for the incinerator drone. It's such a lame fucking mini-boss, but the music kicks ass.

I'm going to do a casual run through this weekend, and maaaybe a speed 100% next weekend if I can manage it. Then I'll move to echoes and corruption again.
