Title: Skyward Sword
Post by: Hiro on October 22, 2011, 02:54:16 AM
Since we always talk about it in other threads.  baddood;

Holy shit, this is by far the best-looking screenshot of the game so far:

i just can't sit down and play games anymore. i don't know why. i bought super mario sunshine used about three months ago and haven't gotten any more than like 7 shines, when i used to love that game as a kid (i only rented it).

i bought okami off amazon since it was only 20 bucks. i'm hoping i'll get through that.

So it looks like the world map has been shown:
(http://i.imgur.com/8RxUj.png)
I was really bewildered by it at first, but once I realized it's going for a more stylized look like Ocarina of Time's map and not an accurate and detailed map like TP's, it makes a lot more sense and worries me a lot less.
Still, I was hoping for something a little bigger. Is this really the whole thing? Only 3 real areas? 2/3 of those things are brown/red, and the water area looks pretty small. Plus I can only pick out like 5 or 6 potential dungeon areas here. And what about the entirety of the sky area? Maybe that will be big and open, something like Wind Waker's ocean.

Maybe that's just what they've put out so far. Who knows, it could just be a piece of each area.

no, they look plenty big enough for each area, it just seems like too few areas total. there's probably a lot of stuff on the sky side of things too though. still, I'm hoping there's maybe 1 or 2 other areas in this game, because it doesn't seem like a whole lot of variety although i suppose it has about as much as most other zeldas

Well maybe there'll be little islands in the sky, kind of like the islands in WW. Hopefully each area has sub-areas too, if you know what I mean. I mean they look big I guess, but some different areas would be nice.

like i said, they look more like oot's map style, so everything is proportioned incorrectly and a lot of the places will be much larger and have a lot more to them than the map lets on
the sky area's supposed to play a big role in the game though, so i'm pretty sure there will be sky-islands and little places to stop and do extra little things up there
I thought some of the other Zeldas were small but was pleasantly surprised how large they were.  Most of the basic ares are there.

So I heard there are zero torch-lighting puzzles in this game and there are actual puzzles outside of the dungeons and that Link's ability to run up walls and climb things greatly increases the exploration abilities  hocuspocus; hocuspocus;

it just baffles me that you think a jump button would help as opposed to the game making correct jumps for you

even when you need to make a shorter jump, simply letting go of the analog stick at the right time makes that easy - you have control in mid-air over how far link jumps...in addition, not running as fast before making the jump also controls this

if you miss a jump it's really your own fault lol

QuoteSo you may hear common themes throughout the game, but they may change depending on who you're near or who you are talking to. Another thing we've done is, as you play deeper into the game you'll find scenes where people are actually singing songs, which is something that we haven't done in Zelda games in the past.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/121/1212220p1.html

lol i knew i had a legitimate reason to worry about the soundtrack

not only is it the lowest of the five scores, but they describe it almost exactly the same way they described phantom hourglass' score, which they also gave a completely undeserved 9:

QuoteSound: 9 (Skyward Sword)
The soundtrack doesn't quite measure up to the franchise's best, though that's a very high standard.

QuoteSound: 9 (Phantom Hourglass)
The score isn't as epic as previous Zelda games, but it holds its own, and is easily one of the strongest on DS.

http://ds.ign.com/articles/822/822825p3.html

And we all know that in reality, despite the reasonable scores it tended to get, Phantom Hourglass has the worst soundtrack in Zelda history.  "One of the strongest on DS" is an outright lie, and I would honestly have given it a 3/10. goodjob;

well this is really disappointing lol awdood;

Title: Re: Skyward Sword

>you start with 6 hearts
interesting befuddlement

also:
Quote from: EGMRemember how I mentioned that the visual design emphasizes enemy strengths and weaknesses? Well, this graphical quirk comes from the conscious decision to make Skyward Sword too reliant on motion controls and Wii MotionPlus"and it’s this element that singlehandedly holds the game back from elite status.
Twilight Princess’ motion controls worked because the game was more forgiving of your movements; simple flicks of your wrist would provide the desired results. Now, due to the enemy design revolving around the motion-control gimmick and being forced to use the MotionPlus"which follows you too well"you’re often pulled out of the immersion, because you’re constantly reminded that you are holding a controller whenever the controller doesn’t do what you want.
QuoteA perfect example is the miniboss you face in the first temple. It’s a Stalfos, a Zelda enemy staple from the very beginning. This dual-sword-wielding skeleton towers over Link, so in order to do damage, you must swing where the Stalfos isn’t blocking. If he’s holding his swords horizontally, you must swing horizontally through the gap; if he’s holding them vertically, you strike vertically. Unfortunately, if you’re like me and have played a good amount of button-mashers over the years"or even just older Zelda titles"your instinct is to attack hard and fast. But if you swing too fast, even with MotionPlus, Link won’t be able to catch up to you. Or, worse yet"since I’ve yet to meet someone who prefers to play games standing up"if you’re sitting down, it’s impossible to swing the controller perfectly horizontally or vertically every time, and you’ll often have to reset your position, destroying the illusion of immersion.
QuoteAnother failure of Wii MotionPlus comes with bombs. For the first time in the series, you can roll bombs into crevices and holes instead of just dropping them or throwing them, and this is necessary at certain points to open doors or take down particular enemies. The problem, though, comes from the way most people hold a Wiimote. Think about it: You have your thumb on the A button, your index finger on the trigger, and your other fingers wrapped around where the batteries are stored. If you attempt to roll something, like in Wii Sports Bowling, you’re going to turn the Wiimote to its side so that the bottom of your hand faces toward the sky. The problem in Skyward Sword is that this makes the bombs sail far off to the right of your intended target and forces you to overcompensate with an uncomfortable palm-down technique more akin to throwing a bocce ball.
QuoteThe most blatant annoyance storywise definitely has to be Zelda’s disempowerment. Though she still plays this society’s role of princess as the knight headmaster’s daughter, she almost comes off as pining for Link from the second you meet her. In the EGM offices, we likened it to Metroid: Other M’s unfortunate relationship between Samus and Adam. I understand that Zelda and Link are played off as best friends in this game, but she just comes across as reliant upon Link long before she falls below the clouds"following him around like a lovesick puppy and hoping he’ll win the ceremonial festivities so they can take a celebratory ride together above the clouds. You could argue that since this may be the very first Zelda, she hasn’t yet evolved the characteristics that come with being a princess of a large kingdom. Still, it just comes off wrong and dampens the moments when she tries to be the more strong-willed character we’ve grown accustomed to over the years.

Not saying there are, but there could still be issues with the controls that aren't present in that like 2 minute video that you'd run into as you play the full length of the game.

i think "issues" are going to be present and that entirely goes without saying. any wii game can give you some troubles now and then, simply because of what it is. motion controls. but i'll be damned if that doesn't look pretty accurate for motion controls.

I don't like the Motion Plus. The gameplay seems slower than normal LoZ games.

Also, it might be just because I only got like 20 minutes in and fell asleep cause I had to be to work at like 4:00 in the morning

So I went into Walmart before work to get it but I couldn't find it anywhere, so I asked the guy in electronics if they had it and he was like, "Uh, if we do I dunno where it is, I'll go look for it in the back if you'll wait a few minutes." I was like "ok" and when he didn't come back after 15 minutes I left because I had to get to work. So I went to the game store next door on my break and got it. It's AWESOME.  giggle;

my only complaints are that the menu buttons are kind of dumb (i want to hit b to use an item after selecting it with b, not a, why is it switched to a randomly) and one small thing about the sword. it's just whenever i try to kill bokobins or whatever the fuck they're called, i get that they predict my move if i'm there too long, so what i try to do is raise the sword up so it looks like i'm about to make a vertical strike down but then go for the horizontal strike where he's open. but it always makes me go vertical and he always catches me. i ended up having to waggle for those dudes a lot. :(

the lizalfos on the other hand are top fucking percentage, and every direction it tells me to swing i always get em. yeeee

I dicked around fighting enemies and flying the bird for about an hour or so and then watched my friend play the story. I started watching from when he got to the forest area to completing the first dungeon
We laughed and got excited at so many awesome parts AWESOME

The sword controls aren't quite as precise as I expected, but they're still pretty good. The combat and everything is really fun though, and much harder than previous games. My friend was all excited that he killed two bats with one swing thumbup;

Also I think the game is beautiful at most parts but a little bland in a few instances where the character models and such remind me of TP

...and now time to write an 8 page paper  hocuspocus;
sleep until morning, and Cawlin will be in that area. Talk to him, and he'll give you a love letter to give to Karane. At this point, you can do one of two things (I saved and did both):

1. Deliver it to Karane, then after a sequence of talking to her and Pipit, she rejects Cawlin and goes out with Pipit, and Cawlin is miserable.
2. Give it to ???. Talk to Cawlin and he's all like WHAT THE FUCK MAN and runs away crying. Instead of wiping its ass, ??? reads it and falls in love with Cawlin, haunting him every night. And Cawlin is miserable.

Either way, the reward is the same, so do whichever you want.

also the hardest part about that sequence was probably the whole hordes of enemies thing. ghirahim was cake, and demise wouldn't have been so bad if i came with any sort of bottled health.
I'm at the beginning of the fourth temple now. I'd also say the game so far seems about on par with Wind Waker.

My one main annoyance with the game's controls is the cursor centering seems odd at times, especially with the item pocket menu, where it can't even be recentered.

Before playing this game, I didn't know anything about it besides what was at like E3. Not spoiled at all giggle;

It took me a while to figure out that the centering isn't set in stone. The center is wherever your remote is pointing when you open the menu.

It's that way for most menus, but the item pocket is like the only exception in the game to that. The center setting for it persists even when the menu is closed/reopened and I think the only way to reset that center is with a complete MotionPlus recalibration.

and from time to time centering at the current controller position can be a little annoying, like flying a beetle upwards, crashing into something, then wanting to relaunch it upwards requires remembering to lower the controller in between
the safe zone is the where you start out. Also the second one is the only one of any real difficulty, I found. I didn't think those sections were all that bad. Whatever mistakes they made with similar parts in other games they must have learned from them.

I'm finding numerous places where the Beetle would be a perfectly good alternate solution to the puzzle, but the developers prevent its use by dramatically decreasing the Beetle's stamina in that area to unusable levels madood;
Like on the ship, the Beetle should have enough stamina to fly around the ship several times, but instead its stamina (even my Tough Beetle's) is reduced to just a couple seconds, with which it can't even reach the timeshift stone from the deck.
If you finished the fifth dungeon, you can dowse for the single gratitude crystals. They're scattered, only during night, across Skyloft, Pumpkin Island, and Beetle's Island.

I don't think this game lets you screw up any potential sidequests. This particular sidequest doesn't continue at all beyond the argument you overhear.
I just finished the escort mission without failing once. I arrow-sniped everything in sight. baddood;

So I pretty much played this game for most of the afternoon and evening yesterday. Goddamn this game is great. I mean, I've only beaten the first dungeon so far so I can't exactly say for sure how much better or worse it might overall be than other Zeldas, but I'll be damned if I'm not having a blast with it. The combat is just ridiculously fun.

I'm not completely sure about that first dungeon I did. I mean, I liked the puzzles in it, I guess, but in general it was just sort of the game's "introductory dungeon," so I guess I couldn't legitimately expect it to be all that much larger. Besides, it took me a while to get through it. The boss was awesome, very fun.

Did anyone else notice how the music in that dungeon had more complexity to it when you were in the central rooms, and how it toned down in rooms that branched off from the main path? That was pretty cool.

i do dislike how she'll always try to tell you the status of your shield or that you're running low on hearts rather than anything useful sometimes...but other than that, it's hard to be more pointless than navi, considering fi is actually part of the story and navi was just...there.

there was literally no reason for navi to be with link, story-wise. the deku tree just told her to hang out with some hylian kid. hylians aren't even supposed to have fairies.

Title: Re: Skyward Sword
Post by: bluaki on November 30, 2011, 11:27:30 AM
It's not really an issue with Fi alone, but the low health warnings in this game are a little ridiculous. The last time I've seen it trigger, I still had four hearts left of the 11 or 12 I had at the time. I imagine it's probably based on how many hearts you have and reaches even worse levels when you have max life capacity.

and on that note, does this game still have 20 as the maximum number of hearts? Of those 20, are some of them only temporary containers for when you have the medals in your inventory?

Most Wii games are annoying about low battery warnings as well, especially considering that for rechargeable batteries the Wii's detected level drops to 1 bar when the batteries are still over 90% charged. I think I've only had to swap batteries once or twice while playing SS yet nearly all of my play time has been with the low battery indicator in the corner. At least Fi only complains to you about it once per play session and there's no indicator noise like in SMG.

I am almost done I think.
I've completed the fourth trial and am now trying to re-arrange the rooms so I can get the triforce pieces.  I didn't feel like doing that last night and am still there.

I'm not sure how I feel about the trials. Part of it felt annoying but it was always awesome when I had 2 teardrops left on opposite sides of the map, the guardians wake me up and I have to fucking run across the map while dodging the 8 guardians chasing me.

It is fun trying to do that.
So I beat
that giant squid boss
IT WAS SO PRETTY AND AWESOME AWESOME

So I now have 2 minor criticisms with the game:
Fi does tell you too much redundant stuff ("Hey look this is the puzzle you have to solve", "That item over there has a 90% chance of being an item you've already had before and damn well know what it is") and the game just doesn't feel as free/open as say Wind Waker or even OoT. I guess it just reminds me of Majora's Mask in that you're always having to fight enemies and making the trip between places require a little more work as opposed to just carelessly wandering about anywhere you feel (besides dungeons)

But yeah I played for like 6 hours tonight but I'd say at least 3 of that was just collecting materials and gratitude crystals, doing errands and such. Plus I fully upgraded every single item I have (which I believe is every item that can be upgraded in the game) aside from the 2 older shields I have sitting in storage since they're now useless compared to my Goddess Shield.  bassir; The Sacred Bow is so cool cry;

I think I've only ever had any need to repair my shield once befuddlement

I think I'll probably beat this game on saturday. I don't know that I've ever played through a game this fast. I've put like 35 hours into it so far and I'm sure I'll put it at 15 more at the very least but the game still feels so short. Is there less areas/dungeons/bosses or something or am I just playing through it too fast? I only suspect that because it seems to be following a different format from the other Zeldas. It's probably the latter, but I just get so into this game, I can't help but spend at least 4 hours per session.

Anyways um yeah I'm back at Eldin Volcano and I still can't find this minesweeper game.  akudood; Where on the map is it?

OH okay that makes more sense popsi or something said it was before the first bridge which it is not. I'll look around there then.
I was having that same problem because I didn't have any bird feathers until yesterday, they're easiest to get in Faron Woods I think, there's some right by the bird statue titled "In the Woods" or something like that. You have to be really slow and sneak up on them very quietly and when your net is right next to their head sideswipe your net as quickly as possible. If you miss they'll fly away but if you just put your net away, walk away for a second and wait, they'll come back.

Does the game ever actually tell you this? I didn't find out until I got the treasures dowsing option and just happened to activate it in the vicinity of some birds.

I just found the Minesweeper thing last night myself. I apparently bombed open the cave without ever entering it. Unlike regular Minesweeper, which only occasionally reaches a luck-based point, this minigame's vague numbers (can't distinguish between 1 and 2 or between 3 and 4) and small field effectively make every single game heavily luck-based.

When every rupee is collected, does the game give a heart piece? I was one spot short of it like three times :(

Another thing Skyward Sword is largely missing out on are the towns and sidequest rewards. Skyloft is absolutely the only town in the game, while all other 3D Zeldas have at least like 3 towns. Within Skyloft, most sidequests reward only gratitude crystals which lead mostly to rupee wallet enlargements (and by the time you get them, you probably won't have much more use for rupees). I don't remember any sidequests directly leading to a piece of heart, a bottle, or any other type of useful item.

uh so one of the dipshits at outsider posted this pile of nonsense (it's full of spoilers):
Quote from: Kidec on November 24, 2011, 10:43:44 PM
basically, nintendo both did and did not create another timeline split.

1) demise is not in the master sword at the start of the game and is imprisoned in the sealed grounds.

2) at the end of the game, demise is in the master sword. not only this, but he has been in the master sword for years, considering the fact you go back in time to fight him.

3) demise is killed in the present time from the triforce wish. you can't fight that shit, he's dead, curse or not. triforce has almighty power yo.

it is easy to see here where things go awry. in the main timeline the game plays in demise is sealed in the sealed grounds. however, at the end of the game, the timeline that occurs is demise being in the master sword. but here's where shit gets really fucking shitty.

1) zelda gives impa a bracelet after sealing demise in the master sword. it is implied that if demise was not sealed in the master sword, zelda would not have given impa the bracelet.

2) old impa is wearing the bracelet from the start of the game.

so what we can conclude here is that demise was either sealed in the master sword the entire time (which we know can't be true) or zelda might have given impa the bracelet under different conditions. BUT, zelda sealed herself in the sealed temple WITH THE BRACELET ON until the game's present time. THERE IS A TIME IN THE GAME WHEN BOTH ZELDA AND IMPA ARE BOTH WEARING THE SAME BRACELET.

TO CONCLUDE. there is a timeline where demise dies, and one where he is sealed. zelda's bracelet not only ruins this theory, but transcends time and space and exists in two places at the same time for no reason.
how...how could you be so fucking retarded about this? where in the world does the game state that something with two versions of itself from two different times can't both exist in the same era? how fucking autistic do you have to be to even think about something like this being a thing that nintendo would do intentionally or even recognize?

there's a point in the game where a character wants there to be a tree in a certain spot, but can't grow one. link travels back in time, plants the tree (which allegedly takes a long time to grow), returns to the present, and finds the tree fully grown there. the other character then acts like the tree just fucking appeared there out of nowhere and link continues on his merry way. nintendo is clearly NOT CONCERNED WITH MAKING 100% COHERENT PLOTS AND TIME LOOPS SO STOP FUCKING TRYING TO INSERT THEM WHERE THEY DON'T FUCKING FIT YOU GOD DAMNED RETARDS.

i fucking loathe zelda fans

where can't they go? zelda in general doesn't need to be a contiguous series. they could just make a new zelda that isn't part of that "timeline"

so story-wise i don't think there'd ever really truly be a shortage.

but yeah i dunno it will be harder to just keep making zeldas in 3d from this point onward i think, idk

I DON'T WANT IT TO END, EVER

well as long as aforementioned DIPSHIT fantards exist, nintendo will keep appeasing them with sequels and prequels out the ass

if they made another game that doesn't obviously fit in anywhere on the "time" "line" (which i personally wouldn't mind if they did), those shitheads would implode

i am not necessarily opposed to more sequels and prequels and whatever the fuck as long as they keep being great games

but nintendo is seriously limiting itself creatively when trying to connect these games to each other :(

I've been at a point where I can beat the game (unless there is another twist) for about a week but I haven't had a lot of time to play it and I've been tracking down the last few heart pieces and gratitude crystals which takes a lot longer than I thought without a guide.

I know know where the last 3 are and only have 5 crystals left which is either 1 more sidequest or there are still 5 crystals lying around the sky somewhere

Did you buy the net upgrade? Do that and just memorize where the bugs are. I know there are 2 dragonflies, an ant, and a grasshoper at the very bottom if you drop into that thing and crawl through the hole so you fall.

I got all the crystals now and I have 2 heart pieces to go.

i was able to jump through all 5 rings and miss all balls but I landed on red and got 200 rupees.

I then was able to land on 50 but only have a multipler of 4 and got 200 again.

It's one of my favorites, just barely behind Wind Waker.
I actually enjoyed the silent realm sections despite my initial reaction
I love nearly all the new elements introduced
I was playing it last night and I finally got to one boss battle that I absolutely hated, it was not enjoyable at all.
the imprisoned a third time, really?
Once I finished that piece of shit part though I got right back to being in love with the whole game.
I think I'm almost finished now, but I won't be able to play it again for a week (left my Wii in phx)
I just need to get a few more gratitude crystals (I think 10? How many should there be total?), the remaining heart pieces, and the last shield.
Title: Re: Skyward Sword

I haven't played recently.  All I have left to do is get the final 2 heart pieces (fuck those two mini games) and kill the final boss.

Yes.

It annoyed me because
By this point in the game you probably have all 5 bottles, the upgrades you need, and essentially nothing to buy.  There is no need to carry 9000 rupees.

Or really 9900 with all upgrades.  It may have been beneficial early in the game but by the time i got that I had already paid 1600 for the heart piece, all of the metals, upgrades, and whatnot from Beetle's shop at full price.  At that point I already had every shield, and carrying that much didn't really benefit me  akudood;
I just started playing this. I spent about 30 minutes adjusting my TV because the graphics looked like SHIT, and I thought it was the tv (I was playing on a hotel tv) but it was just the graphics of the game...which I'm getting used to now. Bout to order some composite cables to see if that helps.
Also I've been spoiled by skyrims graphics.

You probably mean component, not composite, right? Composite is what Wii includes and it only outputs interlaced and blurred 480i, while component with Wii gives you... about as good as you can get with a small 720x480 frame. Any better screenshots of Wii games you might see are from emulators.
It's still nowhere near the 1080p you might be used to.

That's because Nintendo is retarded and said "no one has HDTVs" back in 2006 which was a lie and lacked any foresight towards the fact that people would be buying one in the next few years.

We get stuck with shit graphics.

Question about Skyview Temple (the first temple in the deep woods):
once you get the treasure map there's two red X's that aren't reachable once you fill the rooms up with water. So will the water go back down at some point? Or should I start over? thyme is right, lay the fuck off snowy. the comic was at least related to Skyward Sword and it was kind of clever.

i think that the whole "shut the fuck up snowy" has gotten a little out of hand

but this is besides the point.

I bought this game day 1, and I'm only at lanaryu desert.

is it that I'm older now and don't have the patience for playing a story driven video game for six hours at a time? or is it that SS is not good?

No, it has to be the former. This game is pretty fucking fun. Also I don't like playing games in the house's common area.

Title: Re: Skyward Sword
Post by: bluaki on January 23, 2012, 06:37:21 PM
For me, the stab motion rarely works and gives me the most trouble. The skyward charge sometimes needs to be tried a couple times and the tightrope seems rather off, although they're both much more manageable.

Swimming, flying (including beetle), and basic slashes usually work fine for me except the rare times when the main calibration completely screws itself up.

I just completed the Sandship, and despite that dungeon being easy, it's my favourite so far. So I haven't completed the game yet but I can give a quick review on how I feel about it.
I really do enjoy the game. In fact, I like it a lot more than its predecessor. However, I do find the motion control weak at some points, especially flying. I hate flying mechanics in almost every modern game I play, and this one seriously gives a good example of why I do. For every one of those three portals that link you from the sky to either Faron Woods, Eldin Mountain, or Lanayru Desert, it seems it takes you such a long time for you to travel back to Skyloft (whenever you need to return from the ground and onto your bird). Why? Because every time I'm out of boosts and I'm heading towards land, my bird fucking stops flying forward and remains flapping its wings in the same position, not moving, forcing me to raise my bird higher and dive it down to land, just for acceleration. Another problem I find is turning and positioning. I try to turn away from twisters in the sky, but my bird ends up fucking up the turn and hitting it anyway. As well, sometimes I fuck up whenever I'm flying into the green portal that takes you to the Thunderhead because the positioning is brutal.
Other than that, I do enjoy the environment and gameplay of the game. It's basically the same format as any other Zelda game, which I don't mind. I really don't care for the cel shaded graphics, but as long as I can see what's happening in the game, I'm good. The replay value, which is very important to me, seems to be very high. I'll end up playing it again sometime in the future after I beat it. I still have to beat it to get a full opinion on it.  happydood;

the flying controls i have no problem with and i think they're very tight.

and i think there is just as much stuff as in the ocean of Wind Waker, it's just that you have to go up and down, as opposed to everything being on one level.

however i hate the fighting controls because when you have to slice a specific way, i always end up slicing the opposite way and getting electrocuted or some shit.

And we all know that in reality, despite the reasonable scores it tended to get, Phantom Hourglass has the worst soundtrack in Zelda history.  "One of the strongest on DS" is an outright lie, and I would honestly have given it a 3/10. goodjob;

Quote from: Fuck on December 04, 2011, 12:16:59 AM
...i don't really like the idea of ganon just being a reincarnation of demise's hatred or whatever :(
neither do i lol, that seems so cheap awdood;

Quote from: Fuck on December 04, 2011, 12:16:59 AM
tp didn't have the sacred tear trials and thus is automatically better :D

idk this game just seemed kinda barebones compared to any of the other 3d zeldas
honestly, i think i slightly preferred ss :'(
Quote from: Colonel Cold on the Cob on December 04, 2011, 12:17:54 AM
The only barebones part of this game was the overworld, IMO.

agreed

it was almost completely unnecessary

Quote from: Fuck on December 05, 2011, 01:03:25 PM
i like how nintendo's response to the complaints about tp's fetch quests/collectathon parts was to put twice as many into this game befuddlement

seriously

Quote from: Fuck on December 05, 2011, 01:12:34 PM
making things timed and with the threat of insta-death is the polar opposite of fixing them, sorry befuddlement

oh wait

i thought you were talking about the side quests and inter-dungeon downtime >.<

Quote from: Fuck on December 06, 2011, 01:55:53 PM
you know...it kind of seems like they threw away any interesting traits ganon could have by explaining everything away by saying "oh he's evil because he's a reincarnation blah blah"...
yeah, agreed awdood;

Quote from: Fuck on December 06, 2011, 01:55:53 PM
we've now [...] gone MUCH further into the future than we ever needed to...unless the next game has link going into space, i think it's time nintendo puts this series to rest n_n

When did we go to the future? befuddlement
and yeah, agreed ifeelbetter;
uh so one of the dipshits at outsider posted this pile of nonsense (it's full of spoilers):

how...how could you be so fucking retarded about this? where in the world does the game state that something with two versions of itself from two different times can't both exist in the same era? how fucking autistic do you have to be to even think about something like this being a thing that nintendo would do intentionally or even recognize?

there's a point in the game where a character wants there to be a tree in a certain spot, but can't grow one. link travels back in time, plants the tree (which allegedly takes a long time to grow), returns to the present, and finds the tree fully grown there. the other character then acts like the tree just fucking appeared there out of nowhere and link continues on his merry way. nintendo is clearly NOT CONCERNED WITH MAKING 100% COHERENT PLOTS AND TIME LOOPS SO STOP FUCKING TRYING TO INSERT THEM WHERE THEY DON'T FUCKING FIT YOU GOD DAMNED RETARDS.

i fucking loathe zelda fans

lmao

why is it so difficult for zelda retards to realize that zelda games are riddled with plot holes simply because the story has never been and never will be the primary focus of nintendo games and it makes absolutely no sense to try to extrapolate some hidden meaning from them

i don't think there has ever been even a single intelligent zelda """fan""" awdood;

Quote from: Kana Minami on December 06, 2011, 02:31:25 PM
but yeah i dunno it will be harder to just keep making zeldas in 3d from this point onward i think, idk

well, there's whatever happened between phantom hourglass and spirit tracks, plus whatever is supposed to happen (if anything, but it would be extremely anticlimactic and disappointing to end the wind waker timeline right there awdood;) after spirit tracks, if nintendo ever wants to touch the wind waker story again goowan

Quote from: Fuck on December 06, 2011, 02:34:01 PM
now people won't read my other post kaz akudood;

well as long as aforementioned DIPSHIT fantards exist, nintendo will keep appeasing them with sequels and prequels out the ass

if they made another game that doesn't obviously fit in anywhere on the "time" "line" (which i personally wouldn't mind if they did), those shitheads would implode

i wouldn't mind either, i miss the random carefree games like oracle of ages/seasons awdood;

Quote from: Kana Minami on December 06, 2011, 02:35:49 PM
i am not necessarily opposed to more sequels and prequels and whatever the fuck as long as they keep being great games

but nintendo is seriously limiting itself creatively when trying to connect these games to each other :(

honestly awdood;

Quote from: Fuck on December 13, 2011, 05:15:39 PM
most of everything in this game is useless

the wallets, the upgrades, the bottles, the medals, the heart pieces

the game doesn't provide the challenge or need for most of these

srs lol

is it that I'm older now and don't have the patience for playing a story driven video game for six hours at a time? or is it that SS is not good?

i think it's just that i was spoiled by the instant gratification and linearity of many modern games lol

The replay value, which is very important to me, seems to be very high. I'll end up playing it again sometime in the future after I beat it. I still have to beat it to get a full opinion on it.  happydood;

if i could retain all my (especially sidequest) items i def. would

but i can't so i probably won't awdood;

overall 8/10 would not bang

also the goddess cubes served absolutely no real purpose and may as well have just been treasure chests themselves but instead they were used as a lazy way to force exploration of the barren wasteland of a sky which is a huge part of what turned me off ghouldood;

also, i like how easy it is to tell which pieces of music were written by mahito yokota (((who composed most of the mario galaxy soundtracks)))

for instance,
