As much as I love it, Samus shouldn't be.

Contemporary Nintendo already does the bulk of the work on that front. smithicide;

that's quite different lol

that was a 5 second still image as a mild fanservice reward for completing the game exceptionally well

meanwhile she's become context-free tits&ass mcgee in recent smash games and other m

this is true. But still...

Samus Aran

Metroid fanservice has always been pretty tame. But the introduction of the Zero Suit really was the beginning of the end, and Nintendo made it far worse in the Smash Bros games.

I feel like these bits of fanservice were pretty tasteful, though the Zero Suit one is of course a little bit questionable lol

Outright sexualization beyond simply showing a bit of skin in a flash of feminine fanservice definitely goes against her character, though.

Fan works really don't matter in this discussion though because they're outside the realm of canon to begin with.

I dont think it is much different really. She never had any developed character - she was supposed to be a man through the majority of development. Then they decided it would be cool to reveal the bounty hunter was actually a woman as one of the endings which they immediately took further to strip her down as far as they could with 8 bit graphics lol

But yeah zero suit samus is way more sexualized than her origin for sure.

sure but again in practice that's basically nothing, intent of the developers be damned lol

samus as a character was just not at all sexualized by the gaming community en masse until brawl, and i will submit irrefutable evidence of such if i must
