rogue likes

Spelunky and FTL have been some of the best games i've played, largely due to their "rogue-lite" qualities.

I've always known that i would probably like an actual rogue like, but they have always intimidated me to no end

however i started playing nethack on my phone
this game is pretty damn crazy. i am awful but i definitely see its potential

anyone delved into this genre before?

Obviously, you should play Isaac.
Risk of Rain is roguelike-like.

Give dungeons of dredmor and steam marines a shot too.

These are pretty much the only games I enjoy anymore.

Rebirth takes the original and squeezes out everything that made it great into a bloody smoothie and added ice cream to the mix.

Boog, have you tried nethack?
It is the only real rogue that i've played and DAMN it is a good game
also makes me realize how much of a homage spelunky pays to rogues
