i was hoping to post this article before you did lol

but technically that could still be a majority of voters assuming these results are even accurate.

most votes anywhere are lucky to pass with 50% in favor. i doubt many politicians in places that offer more than 2 parties get elected by anything approaching or exceeding that

democracy doesn't work and that's why putin is saving ukraine from such a flawed political system

it could well be, as even at best you're lucky to get more than 50-60% of the voting-eligible population to actually vote in most legitimate democracies (unless you're australia)

but even then, 30% is low, and then we have to consider that crimean voters partook in the referendum with guns being waved at them

also a major territorial shift should require something far more than just a simply majority

and regardless, it severely contradicts the ridiculous figures disclosed by the kremlin that were designed to paint a picture of a crimea unanimously disgusted with ukraine, and that lack of confidence indicates that moscow is well aware this wouldn't slide if it didn't cheat and distort and corrupt every single piece of evidence it got its hands on

but i suppose that's what russia does best

also, democracy generally only fails in states that democratized either under unnatural circumstances or too early for their own good

and even then



compare the average hdi of those countries on the green spectrum to the average of those on the red spectrum

personally, there are far more greens than reds that i would be willing to live in, even if there are a few outliers between them[/spoiler]
