You all take turns at the same time and there's an option for it to go to individual turns if two humans declare war on one another. You can also set it up to work through email but I don't really like that concept because you only get a few turns a day

Idk I couldn't handle that, inevitably somebody forgets their turn and then it's like 1 turn a day and it's just AUGH

I forget the exact limit... either 12 or 16 or 22 according to different sources. But it would probably lag pretty badly if you did 10+ players
