I hope this can become the official thread. 

Here, you can ask any questions you want about EV training, though I hope most will be answered further on in the post.


What are EVs? - EVs are basicly a way where you can make you're Pokemon stronger in certain areas. Every single Pokemon gives out EVs when you defeat them. The EVs they give out ussualy reflect the stat they are most dominant in. Every Pokemon gives out one, two, or three EVs.

Why are EVs important? - Well, every time you get 4 EVs, you get +1 bonus in a certain stat. For example, let's say you defeated 4 Starlys. Each Starly gives out 1 Speed EV, so when you level up, you will get +1 more in the speed category. This allows you to train Pokemon to make certain stats better.

Sp. Attack: Golduck [2 EVs] Surf Pond in Resort Area
                   Gastly [1 EV] The Old Chateau

Defense: Graveler [2 EVs] and Onix [1 EVs] - Iron Island

Sp. Defense: Mantyke [1 EV] and Tentacruel [2 EVs] - Shore above 8th Gym Badge

Speed: Fearow [2 EVs] and Raticate [2 EVs] - North of Battle Area

HP: Gastradons [2 EV HP] - Grassy area in front of Pal Park

Four EVS = 1 stat point. Each pokemon can have a max of ....I think 514..idk. But the max for one stat is 252.
