i finally got around to watching Metropolis

fantastic movie. perhaps a bit rushed, and i would've liked more insight into the thoughts of kenichi (the main character), but pretty goddamn great otherwise. it's absolute eye candy and the score is fantastic, but it's also a good story.

tezuka productions only had "conceptual support" and thus as far as i know tezuka wasn't actually involved in art direction

but regardless the art style is very similar in some character designs yes
