Got killed by a spider today

I was mining and decided to surface and see where I was, but spider found me first

I got lost and couldn't find my spawn point/original house so I decided to settle where I currently was. I built a GIGANTIC house which took me about an hour and a half to build. The house was all done except for a small chunk of the ceiling. I was currently in the process of building a tall-ass dirt pile on the roof so I could use a ton of torches to light it up. Well I was just about done with it, backed up too much, fell in the water, and a creeper happened to be at the same exact spot I fell in the water at.

edit: forgot to mention I have no idea where my new house went . I rage saved/quit
