The best game of the year would probably be Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, or the Orange Box.

The only thing on that list that is good is Orange Box. Mass Effect was a steaming pile of shit with garbage shooting controls, Call of Duty 4 was good but not worthy of GOTY, and the Orange Box is better on the PC.

My ass it's not worthy of the year. It not only revived a whole genre by itself, but it perfected so many things in that genre. What the hell did Call of Duty 4 do that was so amazing for the shooter genre? Nothing that I noticed.

It perfected controls
It perfected level design
It perfected the way gravity works
It perfected the way platforming in general should work
It perfected spherical worlds
It perfected the difficulty curve in the later levels
It perfected a genre
