Super Mario World is undoubtedly the best, though I would've liked more powerups in the game.

Also, Yoshi's Island isn't very good at all.

Yoshi's Island kicked ass, it has the best music in any Mario game.

The boss fights were the best ever in any Maro game hands down.

The Raphael Raven fight is awesome, but too short.

Aside from that battle, none of the game is truly fun.

Also, I've never liked crayon/kiddy-colored graphics at all.

Of the 2D ones, my favorite is Super Mario World. I actually like the 3D ones better, so overall my favorite is Super Mario 64 DS, but probably will soon be Super Mario Galaxy.
On a side note, should New Super Mario Bros. be on that list?
