Title: VACATE THE PREMISES
Post by: Nyerp on June 08, 2009, 09:51:12 AM
Where are you going on vacation this year?

I'm going to both Grand Teton National Park and Glacier National Park.

Spending the next few weeks at home, relaxing, taking more than a few train rides to see my lovely. On the 21th, I'm heading up to the Isles of Shoals in NH for a spiritual development thingie for a week. Get back on the 28th, here for two more weeks doing preparatory work for September. On the 7th flying to DC and then to Geneva, to eventually arrive at a little town outside of Lyon where I'll be spending the better part of 3 weeks. It's with a program, meaning I won't be with anyone I know for the entire time. Come back on the 29th, home for a few more weeks, then a week-trip to Maine, and by then I'll be almost at school, to return on the 23rd.

I'm so excited for the NH trip; I'm spending the whole week with my lovely and accepting Unitarian Universalists.  And I've been saving for 2 years to be able to go on this French trip, so that's awesome. And I'll see my lovely in Maine as well.

In two weeks I am going to Hungary (primarily Budapest), Austria (primarily Vienna and Salzburg), Germany (exclusively Munich), Czech Republic (Prague & Cesky Krumlov), possibly Croatia in general, finishing up in London and then flying to New York, staying in New York for a few days and then flying back to Phoenix.

Possibly going to Kansas City
Going to California in August.

My cousins are going to Croatia for two weeks later this month, Skylark. ~_^

Also since BLFAC is right on Lake Michigan, we're driving down to Chicago afterwards for a few days. And that's all for this summer. I believe we're going on a cruise to the Caribbean during Christmas break, and we're trying to convince the adults to go to Disney World before.

My sister went to most of those places last year.

She was visiting the sites of concentration camps, though. Are you?

I'm not. The only concentration camp that we're going to is Dachau. The first leg of my trip (Hungary-Austria-Germany) is with my choir which will be more fun than educational and the rest is exclusively for fun/experience.

I don't quite know actually. Just various cathedrals, an abbey or two, I think.
It's a "Tour" and a vacation I guess :)

I wanted to go on the People to People Student Ambassador trip to France, Greece and Italy this summer.  But there was no way I was going to get the $7,000 plus the deposit to go.  Even then, I would still have to be approved to go through the interview process. :(

I was fairly close to the Grand Tetons, I suppose. I went to Yellowstone on the way down to California.

Anyway, just my California vacation like every summer. Still going to be here until the end of June.

awww
a few years back there was a tour to China but we're not bound by the school year (though we don't go on big tours during the school year) Next year I we're going to a choral festival in Hawaii! I'm very excited but I am sure I will feel it more once I've come back from Europe.

I think we're only allowed a trip every other year. At least in the summer.
I think you can do summer one year, spring break the next, and then summer again the following year, etc., but only if people have the funds to go.

we do a trip every other year (though there was no trip from 03-07 because a bunch of kids were caught wasted in... I'm really not sure where, some foreign country. My director was forced to take a break after that, but we went to ireland/ england/scotland/wales last year. Cost me my life savings and then some. To be fair I had no life savings, so yeah. But still. $3000 is a FUCKING LOT OF MONEY. I did more fundraisers than I though humanly possible. As amazing as the trip was, I never want to raise that much money single-handedly again. ever. I'll stick with my $100 trips to cons. The choir's going to Italy next year. For whatever reason, I'm not particularily interested in italy, despite my heritage.

Also when I was in ireland we had shots of irish whiskey that they handed me and my three friends after a ghost tour. We felt so badass. :|

Yeah I got invited to those stupid people-to-people things for like the past 4 years in a row. I came to the conclusion that the trips are created by rip-off artists after the first time i looked at the price tag. The first year I was invited I even had the chance to go see the castle that's used as Hogwarts in the HP movies. ;___;
