Trust me, most Americans don't know where every state is off the top of their head, because it's easy to mix up some of the locations of the really small northeastern states if you hardly ever look at a map or you've never lived/been to the northeast.
I'm fairly confident I could get them all in their right locations, but I doubt I'm in a majority in that regard.

And that goes for the other way around too.
I can surely get all the northeastern states down to around Pennsylvania/ Delaware, but I start to get confused anywhere southern of there. I know the general location of every state, but it's easy to get confused for some of them... for instance, I always tend to mix up some of the states like Tennessee, the Carolinas, Kentucky, etc.
Then a little bit more western, I get mixed up over the Dakotas, Wyoming, Nevada, etc.
If I had a blank sheet of the states I could probably fill in the names just by process of elimination and rearranging until everything looked correct. If I didn't get them all correct, I'd probably only have 2-4 wrong. But still.

Oh well, that's true.
Besides you and I, the only other people who know any German would probably be YPR, JMV and Nick. And YPR's German is probably better than mine. n_u

you can speak German with a translator but it doesn't recognize when/when not to use be formal/informal like above you would use "dich" instead of "Sie" because Sie is you (formal) and dich (or du) is informal.

It wasn't in seriousness. Obviously we couldn't make German the official language of Boyah - only a few members know how to speak German as it is. America is a land of immigrants, a mixing of cultures. I don't think the point of moving someplace new is to entirely forget your old culture, or to alienate any other culture besides the one that surrounds you. That's ridiculous and mildly xenophobic.

It's extremely ignorant of the immigrants to move into a country as if it's just a piece of free land for refugees. There's nothing wrong with the practice of different cultures, it's just tremendously important that they learn English during their stay. The ability for society to function requires humans to effectively communicate with each other.
It just won't work if everyone wants to speak a different language, and straying from the very language that our constitution was wrote in and justifying it just by the fact that America is a mix of multiple cultures is completely absurd.

Obviously if somebody moves to a country that has an official language (not just de facto as ours is) that person needs to have an understanding of the language and be able to put that into practice. However, you're saying things like "We only speak english here" which not only (and not to be redundant) is a xenophobic statement but it's inaccurate. A multi-lingual society promotes more communication amongst people therefore more productivity. (assuming that the languages in question are to be understood by the majority of the people in that society)
No need to state the obvious. Of course society wouldn't function if everybody spoke a different language but why stunt societies (Americas') growth by being a strictly mono-lingual country?
