And it was from a school I had previously never heard of. doodthing;
Chestnut Hill College? Ring any bells? Apparently it's in Philly. With over 10,000 students graduating since 1924. baddood;
And it was an all-girls school up until a few years ago. Now it's about 75% girls.
Oh, and it's roman catholic. I'm going to go ahead and assume that's how they "discovered" me, considering I'm 99.99% positive I have the best grades of my church's seniors.
Well, they offered me a $13,000 a year scholarship, not including whatever I get from financial aid. And considering the college is only 20-25K... that's a lot. With my financial aid, I may very well be looking at the cheapest college I would have available to me. But I'm not going.
Have any of you college students turned down any good offers?
No, I didn't get any offers because I didn't really do anything to get myself noticed by schools. I got ads from random colleges, but no scholarship offers.
Unless one of those ads had a scholarship attached. I dunno because I just threw them away.
No, but I'll take Wisco over some obscure school any day

It's not even that. I don't even want to go to a big school. And I love philadelphia, so i might actually consider this school if it had anything I wanted. If I accept the scholarship, I'd have to go into computer science or computer engineering. I don't really know what I want to do for the rest o fmy life, but those weren't exactly my first choices.

Philly's famously home to Villanova, Penn, Drexel, St. Joe's, La Salle and Temple

you're kind of too wittle right now to be considered for scholarshipsl just keep up with high-level classes and get good grades.
It's more that you express interest in a certain program in which you have the best grades in your school in that area of interest. I don't think that made sense. But I'm probably somewhere in the top 15 students in my class, certainly not number one (she's my second best friend, and got a full scholarship to UCONN already.) But because I'm a female and said something about wanting to go into engineering, shazam.

it's too bad you don't live in Arizona though because getting a great scholarship there is super easy I am pretty sure I have one you jsut have to exceed all 3 AIMs and keep a good GPA :/
good luck! I'm sure you're going to get in.
They don't know what AIMs is, but i'm sure they can guess. I wanna go to U of A but i hate tucson. i should go to college in sweden.
you don't speak swedish though :/
I'd go to college in Germany or Austria but it would cost a lot... and I am pretty set on the Pacific Northwest
**AIMs is Arizona's version of a high school exit exam
now they do :D
But we've taken aims through elementary school and middle school... I can learn Swedish, and they speak english there, too.
yes but now it is the high school exit exam... before it didn't really make a difference and now it does.
okay have fun paying for that :) and learning enough Swedish in two years to take college courses there. Would you really like to be that guy having everybody speak english because he can't understand the native tongue? Nobody does. And I can't imagine they teach that many courses in english :/ but maybe I'm wrong.
Good luck with that.
Will you stop being such a smartass
Go to the school that you believe is best going to be able to help you achieve whatever you are striving for, not based on the name of the school.
Picking a college to attend based on its popularity is absurd.
I haven't been offered any big time scholarships. Just a couple guaranteed small time scholarships from Church and Ruitans (500-1000$ per year). However, I am looking heavily into Campbell University down in North Carolina and they offer a lot of merit based scholoarships which I know I'll get a fair share of do to grades, class rank, and the like.
I took AP science, english, and math classes but I didnt make good grades. Do I still get free money? ;-;

I am only going to get in state scholarships (and probably only the ASU one) my grades aren't very good but I have some AP/Accl classes so that's something and some nice extra-curriculars and other things like that "well rounded" and all. I can just pay though

That's really not what I'm doing; but it's really not too absurd if you think about it. I mean, I'm going to be spending the next 4 years of my life there. I should try to put myself in a place that will make me happies.
And to geno and skylark; I might be going to school at UAT for Digital Art and Design or Digital Animation; but I worry about finding a carreer in that field. It's basically all I'm good at though, and I do have awards to back up my experience. I dunno. I'll probably go to college and then spend the rest of my life doing something else anyway. I don't want to be rich, just want to live.
but yeah, we're all hooking up and partying if we're all stuck in arizona. baddood;

Oh gosh... Arizona... hahahahaha it's you know... It's not that bad here, actually but I don't think Phoenix is really a great place to live. It's so dead and barren looking but the sky is always so open (which is beautiful) Desert party!

NAU would be ideal then but if you have a school in mind I suppose that's a mute point. But it hasn't been snowing much in Flagstaff (a really neat place where NAU is located. Also, my grandma lives there!)
I love the snow and make a point to go up and see it at least once during the winter but I don't think (or well, I know) that our snow is anything like what you're dealing with in the East.
Out of everywhere I've been in the country it just seems like Arizona isn't like any place else, even the states surrounding it. The way people react to each other, their disposition it's all just so different! And Phoenix is a really new city which just adds to it...
wild wild west!

I'm actually studying this time, though. It's generally just my vocabulary that's awful.

I definitely did not reach my potential the first time around. ...At least, I hope not.

If giving you my stats in comparison helps, I have an A-, A average and my SAT score was 1840.
It's about so much more than grades though. Do things that will get you noticed. Especially community service. I'm the stage manager for my school's musicals, which basically takes up all my time in the winter. Colleges.
love that leadership stuff.

Ah, but you see that conflicts with my schedule. If I dont get my daily dose of "lay in bed all day doing nothing" bad stuff goes down. baddood;
I will figure out some stuff to put. I am on the swim team and shit. I wish colleges weren't so stuck up about this sort of thing, just lemme go to your school goddamn it. >:(

Actually, a lot of the universities here that I'm looking at don't really care about community service; more academics, test scores, and extracurriculars, so I'm good. n_u
