New York is the epitome of filthy big city.  Return Times Square to the 1970s and its population would be in the 6 million by now

Oh okay then yeah. I like it for a number of reasons too - good theater obviously; good museums; so much history... sports... pizza.

But yeah it has a lot of gross aspects too.
