but in face-to-face dating you're in complete control over what secrets are disclosed and the time and rate at which they're disclosed, and as you're seeing each other in person you can probably better gauge whether the sole recipient of that information is trustworthy

with online dating services you're broadcasting a rich repository of information to thousands or millions of complete strangers and just having faith in the benevolence of man that nobody will misuse it
