Consolidating cities would be great because it would mean less urban sprawl which would mean less roads and less reliance on automobiles. It is easier to plan a public transit system when things are all close together rather than spread out and you have to choose and pick which gets stops (surprise! Usually hot spots for middle and upper class residents)

We really need to raise taxes in general because the funding available for transportation is laughable across the board. And then the Republicans refuse to put any of that money into trains or buses and just goes to expanding highways out of the city and asdfghjkl
