Quote"In order to create completely new game experiences for smart devices, all Nintendo IP will be eligible for development and exploration by the alliance," reads the statement. "As these consumers enjoy the unique kind of gameplay found only with Nintendo, they will have the opportunity to explore even more premium experiences on Nintendo's dedicated video game platforms."

Nintendo isn't exactly planning to make the mobile games itself, but rather working with the mobile developer DeNA to let them use any of Nintendo's IPs. This probably means a bunch of mostly typical mobile games just with Nintendo characters thrown in.

I expect they'll all be spinoffs and have very different gameplay from each IP's original games. Along the same lines as NintendoLand, Pokémon Shuffle, or Mario Puzzles&Dragons.

Nintendo already said that:
1. They have no intention of porting any games from their dedicated hardware systems to mobile; only new games will be made
2. Their primary focus will still be on dedicated gaming systems; for example, the next hardware platform that they're currently working on is codenamed "NX"

Nintendo's stated intentions may differ from their actual intentions. Those statements are just to keep the shareholders happy, anyway. This is obviously Nintendo testing the waters for mobile publishing.

Technology and globalism go hand and hand. If you want to be on the forefront of technology then you gotta be global

nintendo releases a new or updated handheld every two years, we'll have a true 3ds successor by holiday 2016 or 2017 at the absolute latest
