an earlier announcement suggested that the character customization is limited to exactly 3 combinations of hair/skin color, but this seems to suggest much more

All the pokemon we saw this week have english names now
Litleo (Fire/Normal): the lion cub
Flabébé (Fairy): the tiny 4-inch-tall thing that stands on a big flower
Clauncher (Water): blue shrimp
Skrelp (Poison/Water): the brown/purple seadragon
Scatterbug (Bug): yet another worm
Spewpa (Bug): evolution of scatterbug, gains a white coat
Vivillon (Bug/Flying): evolution of spewpa, pink butterfly
Noivern (Flying/Dragon): purple dragon with satellite dish ears
Talonflame (Fire/Flying): evolution of fletchling, orange bird

this makes a total of 19 known Gen6 pokemon, or 20 if you count mewtwo's new form

The male protagonist's "default" name might be either Xavier or Calem and female's either Yvonne or Serena. Promotional screenshots so far show the former names for the player, but the latter is used for a rival that resembles the other-gender player character.
