I guess I prefer relationships based on equality.  Anyone going out of their way to woo me is a total turn off.  Likewise, if I have to go out of my way, I'll probably reconsider the relationship.

wooing is a bit archaic if nothing else

i have to admit i also prefer what you're talking about, and i do think formally asking someone out definitely isn't always necessary, and i certainly never did that with hensa (we were friends first, then it just sort of became more)...but i guess i do see the appeal, from a girl's point of view, in getting that question. it sort of solidifies things.

...but from MY point of view, it's unnecessary and i don't really want to have that girl that expects me to do everything the old fashioned way.

I don't see how just having the talk to see what both parties are feeling means it would make someone think that things should be done the old fashioned way.

Also wooing is awesome and should go both ways and is awesome

i just sorta meant that i don't really want someone who just expects those sort of things

i've no problem doing some wooing if i feel it's worth it, though i'd still rather be friends with her first, honestly. likewise, i've no problem asking her to be my girlfriend outright.

it's just the expectance of such things that's old-fashioned, i guess. to me, at least.
