aside from the differences between a standard HDMI cable, an HDMI cable with high speed certification, and an HDMI cable with high speed and ethernet certification
(but that only really matters if you are looking to play in 1080p, in 3D and on your stereo over long cable runs)

i've played symphomia, abyss, and innocence a bit (no more than ~15 hours on any one game) and i have to say that as much as i want to love these games they're kind of hard for me to get into just because the battles feel so stale after a while

Yea I've only played Symphonia and Abyss, but I didn't finsh Abyss cuz it got really slow and I was bored of it. So then I didn't really bother looking into another Tales game.
I'm glad to hear Vesperia was good, I wanted that when it was announced but I never got it. I also was trying to hunt down Smyphonia 2 on the  Wii for a while on Ebay because no one cared for it and it is pretty cheap.

As far as 360 JRPGs go I got Eternal Sonata which is amazing, and Blue Dragon which I couldn't play more than 3 hours because it was so "kiddy"

Is this new Tales game a remake? And they're remaking abyss for the 3DS, is the 3DS's hardware decent?

Yes, but Graces has never been released in North America, and the 3DS's graphical capabilities are comparable to the PS2's

Graces F essentially got the same treatment as Symphonia and Vesperia. Made on one console first, then ported to another console with extra content. We never got the superior PS2 port of Symphonia with extra content, nor did we ever get the superior PS3 Vesperia with extra content. However, since we never got Graces to begin with, they're just giving us the one with extra stuff, on the PS3, instead of the 360 original.
