that game is fun, though i get super fucking lag on my mac; like it'll be running for like 2 minutes at 60 FPS then it will drop to 2 fps for 5 seconds and go back up again. it makes it fucking unplayable

Andria

Talking about it made me go play multiplayer yesterday and I made this stuff

the house has a garden underground with the glass roof and a level under the floor where you could run around and stuff

then I made

It had a lot more in it after I took these like a secret entrance through the water and a giant thing for growing shrooms.

I still need to buy it though, I might for my birthday next month.

I always just end up digging tunnels and getting stuck in lava.

Boogus Epirus Aurelius

I dont play too many video games and I happened to buy this on a complete whim, but this is now one of my favorite games. I bought it last week and it's eating into some of my spare time.

It's well worth the thirteen or so dollars.

I started out with absolutely no knowledge of what to do and discovering things was genuinely fun. The first thing I did was build a tower of cobblestone on the side of a mountain until a fucking creeper came up behind me and knocked a bunch of chunks out.

So I migrated east and stumbled on the coast and built a wooden house complete with a fenced in backyard and water moat. Beneath it I dug a tunnel down to bedrock.

I started to explore a cave system near my house and got pretty deep into it. I hit a wrong block or two above me and wound up flooding the entire cave. I swam out the waterfall and came out in the middle of the ocean. I was disoriented and tried climbing the closest mountain I could and found one that was completely carved out on the inside. The perfect spot for expansion. It's coming along pretty good so far. Here's some shots.

Outside the mountain. I walled up the entrance and built a sort of entry-house thing.

Through the door. This entire mountain was naturally carved like that. I was going to expand the holes at the top a bit for some more light at daytime.

A second level waterfall that I helped along a bit

A forge in a mined room.

Up a staircase inside the cliffs and on a balcony

And the glass room directly over the waterfall

Nah, not really The free version is about building shit.

The alpha (the game's not actually finished yet) involves a ton of different things. You start with nothing at all. The first thing you'd end up doing in the game is chopping a tree down and building a wooden pick-axe and carving out a moderately safe spot, because at night everything is crawling with things that want to kill you. Your first day is basically a scramble to find shelter before the sun sets.

After that, you can build castles with the rock you've mined. You can explore natural cave systems and find shit. You can build working railways to connect mines and bases. You can dig to the core and find lava. You can get lost exploring the terrain, and you will get lost if you're not careful. The maps are completely randomly generated and keep doing so as you explore. I think I read that it can potentially generate seven times the surface area of earth or something, but that seems kind of far out.

It's the first video game I've been excited about in years.

And it's like 9 euros which is only about thirteen USD. When it's out of alpha, the price is  only going to go up. Buy it now and you'll get all future updates and everything for the reduced cost.

Getting lost is what makes this game so exciting. I've started making small, 3x3x3 huts out of stone and then digging straight down while making ladders until I find something. Most of the time I'll fall into a giant underground cavern and they get so huge that sometimes I'm scrambling to find my way out.

I would say that my best experience with this game was a couple nights ago. I made a boat and a compass (along with all of my other tools of course) and set sail in a single direction for about half an hour. I saw awesome caves, huge fucking mountains, and you can bet that I explored it all. I was just getting ready to turn around when I saw another nice looking cave with some iron ore on the side. I docked my boat and went in. The cave was pretty deep and had a beautiful underground waterfall. While admiring it's beauty, a skeleton came out and shot me and scared the shit out of me, which left me with .5 hearts left. It was night outside, I had tons of iron and shit in my inventory that I didn't want to lose, so I spent the night in the cave, constantly looking for that fucking skeleton. Needless to say, it was nerve-racking and for some reason it made for a great experience.
