Metal Machine Music

it's like 45 minutes or so of feedback loops, nothing but feedback

it's hard to even call it music, really, it's just annoying
I just listened to some of it, and i was pretty damn amused.

Alright, psychedelic or somewhat psychedelic acts that were awesome. Specific albums in parentheses, 'cos some of these artists only did a little bit of psychedelic. Yeah, some of these aren't completely psychedelic, but similar to it. Good shit nonetheless. I'm not gonna go on and on about genres, let's just call this... groovey 60's shit with psychedelic elements.

Donovan
Jefferson Airplane
13th Floor Elevators
The Beatles (obviously)
Cream (Wheels of Fire)
Beach Boys (Pet Sounds)
The Rolling Stones (Satanic Majesties)
Grateful Dead (first album)
Pink Floyd (Piper at the Gates of Dawn)
Steppenwolf
Steve Miller Band (pre-Joker albums)
Mountain
The Doors (various songs)
Jimi Hendrix
Santana
Sly & The Family Stone

And for modern bands in this style, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Dandy Warhols, Warlocks, and MGMT. There's plenty of other bands like this which I have yet to discover.

Oh haha, mostly classics on that list. Good stuff, but I'd be a pretty poor fan of the genre if I didn't know of Jefferson Airplane and the like.

MGMT is currently my favorite band and they only have one full album out. I just can't stop listening happydood;

Yeah. In my opinion, they're the most successful neo-psychedelic act. They only made one album, but it was loaded with creativity, it was enjoyable to a variety of fans, and it made them extremely popular. Can't wait for their next record.
