explain how I am not religious but am interested in the ideas (& doctrines) of some religions? There isn't much to say about it to be honest. I read the Bhagavad Gita and then some stuff on Ghandi and was just really impressed with the way these people live their lives. It's really beautiful and minimalistic and they don't mean to hurt anybody/anything. And I also read Be Here Now by Ram Dass and of course there is a lot about Hinduism in that and the guide to spirituality. It's just all really beautiful and I like it a lot, but I don't follow all of it. And I couldn't call myself Hindu.

Yeah :/ I guess you can find violence anywhere, but in general they are a very nonviolent people.

Of course the caste system is terrible but that's like saying Christianity is bad because of slavery... The Indian people have their problems - everybody does - but Hinduism (in it's pure form) is really amazing. I don't see how the reverence of "random" animals is retarded. Or why it matters if it is. I am not a devout follower of Hinduism and I don't agree with everything that they do or everything that is apart of the religion (reason why I would not consider myself "Hindu") but there many aspects of the religion I can appreciate.
