The problem is that children aren't developed enough to make choices like that. Discouraging childhood sex, in all its forms, is good.

I really don't see how viewing cp is worse than drug use. I know marijuana has some benefits, yeah, but it's an active crime that involves the person knowingly going out to purchase/grow the substance and then use it, whilst simply viewing cp is more of a passive "offense" since you're really not going out of your way to commit the crime and unless it's some cp dedicated site pulling in revenue from the content, you're not necessarily supporting it. i suppose it's just some complex issue that i have ambivalent feelings towards; it should be a crime, but at the same time, watching it shouldn't really result in any punishment which is just how i feel about most drug use (although i still think distribution should be a serious offense regardless since you're knowingly getting someone addicted to a dangerous substance)

What really bothers me is someone serving prison time for simply looking at loli and art featuring child-like characters with no real child involved the process at all.

and then you're sent off to prison without a fair trial (mention child... sex and the jury is automatically against you, and a judge is just as bad but will give you just a slightly milder sentence)

There are just far worse problems in this world to worry about, but anyone using drugs or looking at a picture of an underage model is an easy target and we can just throw them away and blame all our problems on them.

I have essentially the same opinion as you; however, I do believe that CP is above drug use. Drug use is just people who are being stupid wanting to destroy themselves; just allow the idiots to poison themselves if they really wish to do so. I do have the same ambivalent opinion, though, in a way, as long as it doesn't lead to rape or something like that.
