I watched Birdman and really liked it, although
I wasn't a super huge fan of the ending. It was alright, but I just felt kind like it cheapened the experience. I felt like the movie should have ended with him killing himself during the play. I feel like that would have been a more powerful ending, as much as I am for weird ambiguity during the endings of films.
I saw Frank and really enjoyed that! Check it out if you're into weird people and tunes!

I'd give both of those films an 8/10.

The Hand That Fisted Everyone

Watched two movies recently

Hammett, which was about Dashiel Hammett (who created the detective characters Sam Spade and Nick & Nora Charles). It put Hammett in the detective spot, asking him to solve the case of a missing Chinese prostitute. This was the second Wim Wenders movie I've seen (The first was Wings of Desire) and so far he's 2 for 2.

Also I watched a documentary on Fela Kuti called Finding Fela. The documentary covers his entire life and includes various clips from the Fela musical that opened sometime in like 2009 or something. The musical bits don't do anything for me, but there was enough footage from the Africa 70/Egypt 80 periods to make me like the doc. I think that if you can watch the documentaries before this you get a better understanding about who Fela was and his importance at the time. (there are several and they list them at the end of Finding Fela.)
