Why is cancer so funny?

I'm not stickingup for those with the disease like Bassir sys, but I on't really see why caner's funny. 

I mean, it;s just a disease, it doesn't make me laugh or anything.

but like Lozal says, AIDS is highly humorous. I think that's just because it's so easy to pass it's on, it's so easy to make jokes about. That and it's sex-related.

my uncle died of cancer about a week ago

It's not really that funny. A friends dad died of kidney cancer so the disease lacks that comedic punch so seemingly prevalent here.

why is it that when people tell me something that happened to someone, they make it sound SO funny and then like they have a 5 second pause and they announce that they died after the pause.


during the pause i usually laugh. below is an actual conversation
