I'm there because I wanted this to be a more organized tournament and I got no time to be in the actual tournament anyway because I got a lot of shit to do.  I haven't even got my Pokémon ready, yet.  Eight is one of the ideal numbers for a tournament, anyway.  I'll be an OPTIONAL OPPONENT at the end for the champion.  If they beat me, they get $5.00, lol- just to add to their victory because, uhh, I'm a very bored person.  No penalty if you lose.  


WE CAN START THE NEXT ROUND EARLY WHEN EVERYBODY HAS FINISHED THEIR BATTLES.

THIRD PLACE GETS a pouch of tissues for their tears and a candy bar for them to enjoy as they're crying.  And a cheesy certificate.  I'm being serious with this one no matter how ridiculous it is, though, haha.

agreed, it shouldn't just be one night. it's just impossible with everyone having different schedules.

also, maybe not for this one, but once we have more people possibly joining, we should have a losers bracket so people have two chances to get further into the tourney lol

I was wondering this too because mega alakazam, tyranitar, and lucario look almost unstoppable without very strict counters. Then again, something like mega bannette isn't too scary at all.

Especially with item clause, I'd expect the one pokemon holding eviolite on each team to have an excessive advantage over the others

BTW, I'm pretty sure my internet is too horrible to sustain an entire battle.  It randomly shuts off every so often and then goes back on.

Yes, mostly honor system, but also it can at least be verified that the Pokémon entering are lv30 and are among the list of Pokémon available from Friend Safari.

i'm also almost gonna be a stick in the mud here and say that maybe choice items shouldn't be allowed either. i mean how many of us have actually even done the battle maison yet? few of us probably have access to these items that have such huge tactical advantages lol

when it comes to a tourney this early, with only this many people, and not everyone's super into being competitive, i'm almost thinking that all battle maison held items should be illegal for this particular tourney. we can use them in a different, later one. they're just too powerful to be allowed right now imo.

ill probably ev train one or two other pokes but i'm not going to put forth some huge effort to perfect pokes for this tourney

i've ev trained a few mons as i've been going along just to test out the quickness of various methods (power items + hordes = best way) but unfortunately those mons aren't the ones i really want to use - for instance, the chespin i received at the end of the game is a great chesnaught right now, but i really dislike chesnaught

that doesn't matter

pokemon levels in online battles are automatically scaled. your pokemon will be automatically put to level 50 and given whichever stats it would have at that level given its current IVs, nature, and EVs.

i played with john a couple times recently and we always used lvl 50 automatic scaling

works just like the battle maison or anything else that scales levels

any pokemon above lv50 gets scaled down to lv50, but anything lower stays at that level

my levels were all below 50 (around 35) when i battled john and from what i could tell they got boosted up to 50

someone should check this right now to be sure though lol

Why?  Getting to level 50 is super easy

Just go the restaurant le wow, do the triple battles, turn on your exp share, equip a lucky egg, and turn on the exp o-power.  You should go from level 1 to level 50 in about three visits there.

With the method hippo described, it totally doesn't take three visits. Just one visit is enough, especially if you have the other-OT bonus.

Wait, you guys- under "Battle Rules" there's an option that says "Set all to Lv. 50."  Just do that and be truthful to the rules since every option other option but "Handicap" is permitted.  Remember, no Battle Maison items, no Ubers, you may not have more than one of the same Pokémon, and you may not use more than one of the same item. 

Maybe I should enter into the main tourney if /another/ guy has issues.

Actually the interface is just misleading. "Pokemon list" only says you have party pokemon, but "Battle Start" gives battle box as an option.

Yeah, this game makes it pretty easy to share battle videos.
I've gotten quite a few from Battle Maison too: it lets you save any battles that you lose or that are against a Maison Leader.

The Vs. Recorder interface isn't very clear about this, but it looks like you can have up to 100 videos.

You chose to save it, right? When you're online in PSS, open the Vs Recorder in your bag key items page, click the video, and it just uploads.

the fact i had no idea it would set up sticky web, which i did not know existed, caused me to incorrectly predict a switch-out, so i used fireblast instead of the more predictable earthquake. Idk if earthquake would have killed garvantula since bug resists ground. With stab eq would be 150 power while fire blast wassuper effective for240. Of course ggarchomp is more physical but idk.

And I would argue ariados is the frailest spider, but yeah garvantula is a squishy bug girl; definitely not enough firepower to be competitive without the utility of sticky web. Tried to make him work in gen iv but he just can't take a hit

earthquake has the 100accuracy unlike fireblast though which is reason enough to use it, i still would have easily 2hko'd with it

the reason why fireblast was a poor choice though is because i picked it BECAUSE i thought you were going to switch, which was a bad idea because one of your others was firefox

what i should have done, really was run stone edge on garchomp. i had it on him initially but took it out due to fear of missing + fear of the new fairy type, opting for poison jab in case of an emergency fairy attack.

I've taken some pictures of some recent work but haven't found the time to actually upload them so you guys know what I'm capable/not capable of.  I had a pretty busy weekend and tomorrow I have a huge test.  So I won't be able to do shit until next Wednesday or Thursday.  Since I hate half-assing, I will try my best to make these with quality.
