What are some good flight games for the (original) XBox/GCN/PS2? I'm going over to GameStop soon and I wanna buy something good that'll last me a while.

I saw all of the videos for the XBox 360 Ace Combat 6. It looks incredible. Why didn't I know about this series until now? gonk;
Anyway, if I just picked up any random Ace Combat game (without playing the prequels), would I understand it?
