No external drive support at launch sillydood;

I wonder how much free space is left on that nonremovable 500GB drive after all three operating systems are installed. And after several major games are bought and downloaded. And after recording some video. And whatever else Xbox One does with storage space.

i wouldn't be surprised if it's around 400-420gb

and to think that at one point they wanted every single game downloaded to the hard drive

seriously.  sony may be cheap by only putting in a 500gb drive also, but at least give you the option to expand it yourself @_@

Kalahari Inkantation

i can't help but wonder just how much they're saving by opting for 500gb rather than 1tb, considering that with current consumer internal hard drives, the difference between the two sizes only seems to be around $10

Thyme

ok but guys really 500 gb for a videoshame console that's still kinda large confuseddood;

it is until you notice all the stuff microsoft wants you to store on this thing.  games, tv shows, movies, nsa collecting metadata strings, music, etc, etc.  500gb is just not enough, and making it incompatible with external storage solutions out of the box [when you said that would be an option right away] is just dumb.

Kalahari Inkantation

500gb is only about eight full-sized blu ray games (minus space for the os), which would have been a serious problem if microsoft had had the gall to stick with their original plans for the xbox one

though as long as they do make it compatible within a year of its release i'm sure it won't be too much of a problem

oh yeah the ps4's setup isn't too much of a problem

it just seems odd because whatever savings they're getting out of opting for 500gb over 1tb must be pretty minimal, making the decision to stick with 500gb in the first place of questionable judgement from my perspective

don't let's

Can you run games off external storage?
