the shortest route to the sea

I finally listened to a whole bunch of music felt told me to get

"Portishead" - Portishead

Awesome and great tone, and Beth's voice is wonderful. It profits from all the mastering and production work which make it so haunting. However, there's no variety in this album.

"Bleed Like Me" - Garbage

Um, kind of typical but very well conducted punk rock. Contains more of a message than I'm used to behind it, but there's a lot of variety and it's fun to listen to.

"Tiny Dynamite/Echoes in a Shallow Bay" - Cocteau Twins

I can't get into this, it's too echoey.  doodthing;

"Riot City Blues" Primal Scream

HOLY FFFFFFFFFUCK THIS IS AWESOME. A lot of straightahead beatwork which I've been looking for (love the 16th note shakers with powerful drums), but there's a lot else to love here; slight country and indie feels making it interesting enough to support how goddamn anthemic it is. Good variety too, my only beef is that the voice wasn't mastered so well, and sounds disconnected. Fucking badass

You're awesome. 'Ooh La La' is great also.
I actually noted that wrong. I mean to say Black Cherry since I was listening to the whole album, though I think I might have been listening to it at the time. :3

I like "Tiptoe" also.  doodella;

my dream band would be beth gibbons and serj tankian moaning and making noises with an amalgam of raffi, wilco, primal scream, the arcade fire, and tom morillo doing whatever the hell he wants

Felt is amazings. <3
I luv luv luv Half Day Closing from Portishead.
Also from the Rustin' Man and Beth Gibbons album thing I love Mysteries.

It's so calming. ;_;

Also from Garbage I love Temptation Waits.

I don't really like Cocteau Twins, they're too "soft" and echoy.

Also WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR PRIMAL SCREAM.
Felt wouldn't say anything and told me to listen to the Cure and Siouxie and the Banshees.

Also I want some Indie like Mountain Goats or Animal Collective.
More of the latter; I love experimental and psychedelic <3

Though I am trying to find more bands like CocoRosie and Bat for Lashes. ;_;

But the drums are kept on one channel, so it sounds weird to me

They help with calculus, since they just kind of float along. Not enough interesting soundscapes, or I need better speakers.

He's joking I hope  saddood;

"Riot City Blues" is a great album in general, so go with anything off of that. I haven't listened to any of their other stuff, though.
