you need a good preamp and you can make a shitty mic sound nice. Mbox is a shitty preamp, but yea you need some sort of USB interface thingy to get it into the computer...which would be an mbox or theres m-audio ones. Then macs are the standard for recording because of pro tools...and garageband......and logic, but pc has audacity which is fine, I use audacity.
