I mean this in a completely serious manner.

What is it? What's it feel like? And most importantly, what's the difference between loving someone and being in love with somebody?

It feels like you want to become one with whomever you love and you love all of their ugly features. giggle;

It feels like you're warm and excited giggle;

Also I don't know what you're saying in the last sentence--I use both of them simultaneously

so you wouldn't have any problem with saying you're in love with your family?

friendship love and romantic love? ;_;

I think they have technical terms--maybe platonic love or something.

You could articulate the shit out of this, but I guess this suffices.

To me loving someone is a more mutual thing. In that you accept this person, and yet commit to improving their flaws and exploring their strengths and character. Being in love strikes more are infatuation, a feeling of it not necessarily involving the person completely, but the experience of the moment.

 To me love is caring about a person so much that whatever is best for them is what you want for them.

I agree. I also agree with most of what socks said in the second part of his post.

I feel like there can't be love without trust and consequently you can't love someone you don't know very well. What's more, love can really strengthen over time, but 'being in love' is what tends to disappear after awhile, which is why couples get bored with each other sometimes. They didn't have much deeper than the initial infatuation to begin with.

I always find it interesting when teenage boys spill out their feelings to me over youtube. "I think I love you..." and stuff like that. They obviously don't, and I tell them that, but it's interesting that they think they do.

I feel like I have a lot to say on the matter but I don't know how much of it is single-minded so I'm nnot sure how to say it all.

So love at first sight doesn't exist? It is just a physical attraction of some kind? I always wondered what other people thought about it.

Veal

uh okay what kind of love are we talking about? Romantic? Siblings? Parent and child? Friends? Strangers?

Because there's just about a million kinds of love and they're all defined differently and have a million different facets.

I actually always thought love at first sight was more of an expression than anything else. Like, people saying "it was love at first sight" just shows that they were smitten the first moment they saw their target. but if anything then yeah, it's just physical attraction. It could also have a lot to do with the way a person carries themself though. For instance, I could see some man rescue a kid out of a burning building and say that was love at first sight.

Well, given that it is visual based, it tends to generally be mostly physical. However you can tell a lot about how someone carries themselves, and the aura they exhume. Granted, first impressions do not always lead to what one expects, but sometimes they do. I've had the wonderful opportunity to experience instant attraction and appeal from a girl whom I dispassionately would not rank as one of the most attractive I've been with. The way she walked, the stern look on her face just strolling across school, books in hand, etc... If she has that look, a look very specific to my heart and desires, a look which embodies in my minds eye everything a woman should, well, then, how could I not venture and explore further? Little things like that are so significant. They point to a character, THE most important aspect in my book. Intellect can be learned, looks changed, but character is fundamental, and so damn hard to replicate by looking elsewhere once you find one that you click with.
