i've never been fooled by sonic team's shenanigans. i always assume a sonic game will suck. even sonic 4 i'm probably going to just pass up unless it becomes reasonably priced eventually, because while it might be largely a return to the old style, that doesn't necessarily make it great.

The originals (1, 2, 3, Knuckles) and Sonic Advance 1 and 2 are good
Sonic Adventure and Adventure 2 are kinda fun but they have flaws (any character besides Sonic, Shadow, or Tails in the first one)
