isnt it fucked up that this game was reviewed really well in japan?

yes but it's not surprising since i know publications like famitsu overrate everything

i'm sure it was more impressive as a psp game, and the psp is where it should've stayed tbh

and apparently pretty well here too?

those reviews influenced my decision to buy this game

They don't want this to distract people to their own "metroid."

They think to themselves, "they can't remember old metroid. They don't want old metroid. They want co-op shooters. They want shooters on a handheld that can't handle them without gimmicky-ass controls, or a nubby c-stick for "accurate" aiming."

they're very scared of losing those $3 sales. god forbid that people try the remake and then get even more interested in metroid games
