also yes the n64 controller is indeed complete garbage (let's make only 2/3 of our inputs accessible at a time, forcing developers and gamers alike to ignore one side or the other and thus completely nullifying the advantages of all these new buttons we added!!), but because games were generally designed around its limitations, i don't actually think most n64 games were uncomfortable to play or anything lol

needlessly handicapped by completely absurd design choices, yes (and that pretty much defines nintendo's hardware history really), but not necessarily uncomfortable

especially star fox, i would still much rather play that on n64 than on 3ds
