turns out playing on easy actually helped me git gud a little because it taught me the layout of the levels and i was now able to beat the amazon and transylvania on normal

not that im actually gonna try to beat the whole game again lol

the small boosts you get in your stats in earthbound matter a ton, so even just one or two level ups help a lot and the game does sometimes encourage some brief grinding with a couple weird difficulty spikes. the gangsters in onett being the first instance.

yeah just level up a couple times and make sure you're properly equipped and you'll beat them and frank no problem

used rock titan and sephy to grind sora to level 100, so now i'm done with pretty much anything you could do in a single playthrough. sans shitty gummi ship stuff i'm not going to touch
