Finally got around to beating Axelay. It was a fairly easy shmup for most of the game, tbh. Only the last level is challenging, so it sorta takes you by surprise.

Felt like a when I beat the final boss because I was down to zero lives and had lost all my weapons, I finished him with just the little pea shooter.

Of course, I still had a continue, but whatever.
