I've always suspected (at least since high school) but recently I'm starting to be more sure. I've recently been seeing a PSA on narcolepsy which I never even considered, and I don't fit the bill perfectly for, but I feel like it's a possibility.

I'm always tired during the day, no matter how much sleep I got or the quality of it.
I often experience sleep paralysis when waking up from short bursts of sleep.
I have a hell of a time falling asleep at night, to the point where I'll lay in bed, in the dark, with no stimulation, while tired, unable to fall asleep (thankfully this has become more rare and is easily treated with weed lmao)
I have a ridiculous time waking up to the point where it actively detriments my life in major ways, and I've never found a way to properly combat this.
Even when I do manage to get up and moving, I could fall back asleep close to instantly if I try within the next half hour at least.

Anyway I'm gonna set up an appointment with a sleep specialist and see what they have to say. hocuspocus;

I can wake up easily and function with little to no sleep, but I can't for the life of me fall asleep at night, even on days where I do that shit the night before and I otherwise feel exhausted. I have to get stupidly stoned every night to get myself to doze off  awdood;

Hey cool, I pretty much never get sympathy on this and most people tell me to just suck it up and wake up earlier. Makes me want to kill myself :D

jfc yes. i have to set like 20 alarms for myself that go off every 5 minutes if i even want a chance of waking up by the time i need to. sometimes i still sleep through like the first 5, sometimes i hit snooze 50 times and won't even remember doing it when i actually wake up. i thought i'd grow out of this shit in my 20's but i'm almost 25 and there's no end in sight. i just cannot wake up. i have had sleep paralysis before too. sometimes i wake up in the middle of the night and i'm not paralyzed but i still get hallucinations that there's some entity in my room or just outside my window. shit is weird

I have an alarm app on my phone that forces me to b scan the barcode on my shampoo in order to turn it off, or even snooze it. I'll typically get out of bed, go to the bathroom, scan it, hit snooze, go back to bed, fall dead asleep for the next 5 minutes until it goes off again, repeat for an hour.

yep i'd be doing the same exact thing. and it doesn't matter if i've already slept like 9 or 10 hours straight before this, i will ALWAYS wake up tired as fuck and ready to slip right back into sleepytime. there hasn't been a single time in my recent memory where i'm alert and ready for the day when i first wake up. i always get called lazy for this type of thing but it's just my body. like it's not that i don't WANT to get up early and be productive, it's just that i can't usually.

Yeah, sounds like we're in the same boat. I'll let you know if they find something wrong with my brain hocuspocus;

yo what app is that tho that sounds nifty lol

It's just called "I can't wake up"

I have one alarm that makes me do math and another that makes me scan a barcode and neither really works for me but it's better than nothing
