idk man i'm not there yet

by critical i mean Internal Server Error for a month straight or smth

i already have a shitty dreamhost shared hosting account, but i have no idea how much ram and space a small forum used by 10 people concurrently at most would necessitate, and like blu said, most of our problems probably stem from how outdated the platform is

and idk which version of php the server is on but that could be a factor too

and of course, the sheer number of posts

and based on that post, which is approaching six years old and may not even reflect the current state of boyah's servers, it's about 8gb of ram and 600gb of storage

and honestly i'd be surprised to hear that that server is exclusively boyah's and isn't being shared

the equipment cost for a modernized equivalent would be like $750 (we wouldn't need the raid card if we opted for a single large ssd instead), not that i would expect anyone on boyah to cover that themselves lol

and yes, it's true that we won't really have any idea to what extent the server is to blame (although i'm confident it's at least partly to blame) unless and until we finally upgrade to 2.0 (JMV AND SNORKEL argh;)
