"""Journalism""" is dead in America, and that's a good thing. Here's why.

Plus anyone can put together a website and distribute information whereas in the past making information or disinformation widely available was much more difficult

r*ssia especially takes great advantage of this awdood;

which is particularly sad because it's such a wonderful privilege that gives everyone the ability to speak freely, but it's also extremely easy to abuse lol

yellow journalism is basically deliberately exploiting a known weakness of human cognition, and i think that's deplorable

wtf yellow journalism was easier in the past. now you can just google to fact check, back then u didnt have those sources in ur home.

You had to wait for new issues though.

Now news is constantly updated through your computer and phone, free of charge. Real people don't fact check they choose what they want to believe n_u

Plus with so much more competition than in the past it creates more of a necessity to be the first out with a story or to use some sensationalist headline to grab attention in the sea of "news"

google is on every phone for free too. it's much easier to combat y-journalism than yesteryears + alot of places have comment sections or posted on Twitter where u can redpill ppl outta Yella jarnalism.

for better or worse, it's now also extremely easy to use your free google access on your phone to search for 'proof gluten autism', 'study shows global warming hoax', 'reasons illegal immigration good thing', 'gmos bad', 'proof birth certificate fake', 'why ukraine deserved it' etc., pick the first result that agrees with you, and convince yourself you've outsmarted all the experts lol

google may be free and easily accessible, but knowing how to separate real valid evidence from the uneducated mommy fear blog of the minute, alex jones, or brainless editorials on cuckington post is an extremely rare skill

that's why we rely on intelligent, well-educated, unbiased, ethical journalists to do it for us, but the journalism industry is increasingly abusing that authority to peddle complete shite for a quick buck

as a consequence, the news media has utterly destroyed its own credibility, and now anyone can get away with dismissing any story irrespective of its authenticity as "fake news" if it happens to be inconvenient to them, and the whole population is massively less informed despite being quite convinced it knows everything

And that's a bad thing.

don't let's
